Chappel, Fish & Wildlife Supervisor The moose hunting seasons for I975 will op- en one week later than last year. In many a areas of Ontario, they will also close earlier. In the Terrace Bay District the seasons will be as follows: : 4 Residents - October 4 - December I5, I975 4 Non-Residents - October II- November I5, I975 The licence fee for residents remains the same but non-residents will have to pay $I75.00 (up $50.00) for their I975 moose licence. They will also need a $I5.00 Moose Export Per- mit to take a moose out of Ontario. A new "primitive weapons" (long bow, cross- ik bow, and muzzle loading firearm) area and sea- son has been established on the Aulneau Pennin- sula of Lake of the Woods. N Ontario has established a new system of wild u -life management units, based on the wildlife resource produced, by land capability and pre- sent and future use patterns. Boundaries of all these units are defined by easily recogniz= ed ground features such as rivers, lakes, roads railways, pipelines and hydro lines. No long- er will there be any reason for doubt in the hunter's mind as to which season zone he is in. As in the case in I975, several wildlife management units may have the same season dates However, should one unit become a problem area, we will how be able to modify the season in : that area without changing the seasons else- where. . . Maps showing the various zones and seasons are available at our local office. i] | | RED DOG INN REF L Terrace Bay ... 825-3286 Marathon ...... 229-I2I3 1 Red Lake ..:... 724=2858 | Thunder Bay ... 577-I64I : Alpine" =. i. oe 577-6426 x Thunder Bay - Coming to FORT FRANCES May 1975 rIry >
