COMPUTER TERMINAL IN HIGH SCHOOL The Lake Superior High School in Terrace Bay has been equipped with a computer termin- al to speed career guidance information to its students. £ The computer terminal gives the students direct access to the Ministry of Education's data processing branch where information on some 7,000 careers and 450 postsecondary institutions is stored. Normally a student writes to the Ministry seeking career information and receives it by return mail. The system, known as the Student Guidance Information Service, is us- ed, by more than I00,000 students across the province. Lake Superior students will now be able to sit down at a console, request the information they need and receive instant video readouts or computer printouts of the career informa- tion they desire. In addition to providing instant information the computer system also relieves school guidance counsellors from data gathering duties so they can spend more time with the students. Six other Ontario secondary schools have been equipped with the direct computer hook- up. : Always be sure the ICE IS SAFE for your winter sport.
