PAGE 28 TERRACE BAY NEWS DECEMBER I8, I974 His former parishioners, friends and the railroaders, whose unofficial padre he became, will be saddened to learn of the death of the Rev. Gordon Halpin, in Ottawa, on November 29, following a lengthy illness. The funeral took place in St. Patrick's Church in Ottawa, on December 2nd, the Ponti- fical Mass conducted by His Excellency, Alex- ander Carter. Interment was in Notre Dame cemetery, Ottawa. Rev. Halpin, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. J.J. Halpin, was born in Ottawa on June I9, 1904, and ordained on Sept. 22, I934. He served im Regina, Sault Ste. Marie, Schreiber, | Baird, White River, Timogami, and Thessalon, where he retired as pastor September Ist, 1970. He is survived by one sister, Inez, (Mrs. William H. McPherson) and two brothers, Mich- ael J. and Irwin J. Kenney have left to spend the Christmas holidays at Elgin, Ont. with the formers parents and in Virginia with their son Vincent and family, finally going on to Texas for the winter. Mr. and Mrs. Herb Legault were Thunder Bay visitors last week. Mrs. Esther Seppala was a business visitor to Thunder Bay last week. Mrs. Ronald Lanigan and infant daughter are home from Nipigon Memorial hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Henderson motored to Thunder Bay last week. continued page 29 .....
