VOL. I7 NO. 49 December II, 1974 20¢ PER COPY - DECEMBER EVENTS OF BIRCHWOOD TERRACE On Monday evening, December 2nd, the Ladies Auxiliary (afternoon group) of the Community Church entertained the residents of Birchwood Terrace to a Christmas Party. Ellen Hodgkiss was at the piano plaving lively Christmas music and all the old tunes which the residents enjoyed by either singing or dancing to them. A dear little canary in a standing cage was presented as a Christmas Gift. Stella Brown made a jolly Santa Claus greet- ing each resident with individual treats. All the ladies contributed to a delightful lunch of home made Christmas baking which they served with tea and coffee. The evening was a most enjoyable one for the residents and I'm sure to these ladies whose efforts made it possible. On Wednesday evening, December 4th, The Hudson's Bay Store in Schreiber were hosts to the residents. The manager and staff generous- ly offered their services for an evening of personal shopping to all residents of Birchwood Terrace. The ladies were presented with a Christmas corsage by Santa Claus on entering and were personally escorted by the staff to see any- thing that might interest them. A delightful lunch of tea, coffee and cook- ies was set up and chairs arranged for relax- ation. Jack Stokes, MPP has been advised that a grant, under the Community Centres Act, totalling $2,685.52 has been approved for the Terrace Bay Athletic Field. WOULD YOU LIKE TO SERVE ON THE HOSPITAL BOARD? Apparently there are many misconceptions concerning The McCausland Hospital Corpora- tion, The Board of Governors of the McCausland Hospital and The Auxiliary to the McCausland Hospital which we would like to clarify. The McCausland Hospital is a public institution whose legal name is The McCausland Hospital Corporation. Any person who pays the annual fee of one dpllar becomes a member of the cor- poration for that year and if the membership is purchased thirty days prior to the Annual meeting, may vote at the meeting and be elig~ ible for election to the Board of Governors of The McCausland Hospital. The Board of Governors manage the affairs of the Corporation and consists of eight elec- ted and four ex-officio governors. If a vac- ancy occurs among the elected governors, the vacancy may be filled for the remainder of the term of office by an appointment made by the governors still in office. The Auxiliary to the McCausland Hospital is an organization working solely for the benefit and welfare of the hospital through fund rais- ing and volunteer service to the patients. Recently two members of The McCausland Hos- pital Board, Mrs. Pat Buck and Mr. Barry Stephen resigned for personal reasons. The Board requires two people to fill these vac- ancies, one for the sremainder of Mr. Stephen's term which ends in April I975 and one for Mrs. Buck's term ending in April I976. Should you have the time, interest and enthusiasm to fill one of these two positions and wish to play an integral part in the decision making and plan- ning continued page 6 .......
