PAGE 10 TERRACE BAY NEWS DECEMBER 4, I974 GUIDE AND BROWNIE NEWS The Local Association to Guides and Brown- ies held their monthly meeting November 25th in the Community Church basement with only 9 members present. ' President, Mrs. C. Cvitkovich opened the meeting with the Guide Prayer. The Licorice All Sorts Blitz will be held December I3th between 5:30 and 8 P.M. Please support our Brownies and Guides when they call at your door. During the evening of December I8th the Guides and Brownies will be out carolling. The L.A. will provide hot chocolate and the L.A. members will be making cookies to be ser- ved at the 01d Folks home afterwards. As yet there is no one to convene our ban- quet or ways and means. ¢ A special thank-you is extended to the men of the Terrace Bay Legion for providing hot dogs and chocolate for the Guides and Brownies who paraded on Remembrance 'Day. ' The next meeting will be held January 27th 1975. The meeting was adjourned and lunch was served. NOTICE OF MEETING The Terrace Bay Art Club will hold an important business meeting at 9 o'clock in the Recreation Centre on Thursday, December Sth. All members are urged to attend this very important meeting. CANADA MANPOWER SERVICES A Representative of the Thunder Bay Canada Manpower Centre will be in Terrace Bay on Monday the 9th of December 1974. DEPARTMENT OF MANPOWER AND [IMMIGRATION TERRACE BAY POLICE DEPARTMENT REPORT During the week November 25th to December Ist the Terrace Bay Police Department report investigating a total of twenty-two occurences. Two minor accidents were investigated with no injuries resulting. Eight motor vehicles were safety checked with six warnings issued. Three charges with one warning under the Highway Traffic Act and three persons were checked through CPIC. Appearing in court last week with Provincial Judge Clark presiding were John Zwir who plead- ed guilty to possession of a narcotic drug and was given an unconditional discharge and also George Martin was charged with impaired driving assault causing bodily harm and failure to appear on a promise to appear - no plea was taken at this time and case remanded to Decem--- ber 9th. TERRACE BAY LADIES CURLING CLUB Curling is now well underway. Our first big social event will be the Christmas Party, December I4th. Plan to attend. Everyone will = be asked to bring a small gift valued around : fifty cents so Santa will be able to pass out a present to everyone present. Parti Sound from Thunder Bay will provide the music. The dance is open to members and their out of town guests that may be visiting. The Ladies Club have purchased a new tape deck for the club. A new color television will be put in the club room to be used throughout the season then = raffled off at the end of the curling season. The curling club had two representatives at the Winter Carnival meeting. They were Geor- gina Caron and Gail Simmer.
