OCTOBER 23, 1974 TERRACE BAY NEWS PAGE 9 FIRST TEA AND SALE OF HANDICRAFTS Thursday, October I7th, the Schreiber- Terrace Bay District Association for the Men- tally Retarded convened their first Thanks- giving Tea and Sale of Handicraft. Candles gave a festive air, as ladies enjoyed pie and coffee while chatting with friends. Customers did some early Christmas shopping a gay assortment of knitted toys, Raggedy Ann's, crochet doilies and pretty aprons were quickly snapped up and tucked away for some lucky person on December 25th. Mrs. Rita Corrigan of Terrace Bay was the delighted winner of Twin Size Bedspreads, these two bedspreads were donated by Mr. S.P. Newton, Schreiber. The winning ticket was drawn by Mrs. L. Swirhun of Terrace Bay. An appropriately decorated cake "Flowers of Hope" was donated by Mrs. B. Robitaille, Terr- ace Bay. The winner of this draw was Mrs. R. Samp, Terrace Bay and was drawn by Mrs. G. Pinkerton, Terrace Bay. Thanks to everyone who turned out to make this event so successful, who knows it just might turn out to be an annual affair. UNICEF HALLOWE'EN CANVASS Again this year, the students of St. Martin School will conduct a door-to-door Hallowe'en canvass in Terrace Bay on behalf of UNICEF. 4 UNICEF (the United Nations Children's Fund), is an operational arm of the United Nations, and its income comes entirely from voluntary contributions from governments and from people like you. Thanks to the students' efforts and-the generosity of the people of Terrace Bay, $I5I.8I was collected for UNICEF in last year's Hallowe'en campaign.
