OCTOBER 2, 1974 TERRACE BAY NEWS PAGE 7 BOARD OF EDUCATION MEETING Mrs. Margaret Cole was appointed Public School Trustee to complete the term of office of Mrs. Gladys Fairservice at the Lake Super- ior Board of Education meeting held Monday, September 23rd at Marathon High School. The minutes of Meeting No. 9/74 held August 27th, I974 were declared adopted. The Disbursements for the month of August, I974 totalled $470,351.08. Current Board policy on transportation of pupils was deemed appropriate and not in need of review. Discussion on OECA E.T.V. Services in the four major communities ensured, with final decision as to operation or closure of units to be deferred to October pending acquisition of further information. The Board thanks Mrs. M. Averill, Mrs. M. Autio, and Mr. R. Pokorny for their attendance and participation on this topic. The- Board requested the Minister of Educa- tion to review present policy on staffing to permit the Northwestern Regional Office to Fill ics complement of professionals to ensure complete services are available to Boards of Northwestern Ontario. Trustees were advised of the regulations surrounding Religious Exercises and Religious Education in the Public Schools. Trustee M. Reid requested that a copy of the report on the extension of direct E.T.V. service from Toronto be available at the Octo- ber meeting. A progress report on the Stevens Avenue Building Project was provided by the Director. Mrs. Natalie Lake, was appointed Early Childhood Education Assistant, Lake Superior ° High School and Mr. Larry Fraser, was appoint- ed Evening Courses of Study Principal for 1974-75, Lake Superior High School. The next regular Board Meeting will be held October I9th, I974, at the Lake Superior High School, Terrace Bay Campus.
