A large de- legation of utility commissioners and mun- icipal representatives from northwestern Ontario attended the conference which also featured a group from eastern Ontario head- ed by Ontario Hydro chairmam George Gath- ercole, members of the Hydro Board and officials of the provincial OMEA and AMEU offices. : The new executive of District 3 of the Ontario Municipal Electric Association for the coming year was chosen at the annual meeting September 9 and 10 at Kenora. They are front row left to right Don Bainbridge of Atikokan, first vice president; Gino Caccamo of Schreiber, president and past president Frank England of Kenora. Back row left to right are Ron Wilmot of Thunder Bay, director, Frank Capello of Thunder Bay, secretary treasurer; and Don Michelin of Sioux Lookout, director. Missing from the Photo are directors Bill Spicer, Thunder Bay, Maftin Euler, Dryden and Webb Calder of Atikokan. The meeting decided to hold next year's convention in Schreiber. SCHREIBER TOWN TOPICS The Women's Auxiliary to the Canadian Leg- ion, Br. 109 Schreiber, made two donations at their regular September meeting - $100.00 to McCausland Hospital, Terrace Bay and $100.00 to Amethyst House, Thunder Bay. They also transferred funds into the sports account to start their winter sports program. Resignations of three members, received with regret, are to be held in abeyance until the end of the year, in the hope they may re- consider. Most appreciative notes were received from Beth Ross, for the Bursary she received from the Auxiliary, and from Tom Ray, for being one of the four sent to Peace Gardens summer sports program. 5 The Salvation Army wrote thanking the mem- bers for their annual Red Shield canvas in which $559.75 was collected and requesting the naffie of the convenor and canvassers for their records. In response to a report by Mrs. Daryl Lynn Davis, convenor of the Poppy Day canvas, it was agreed to request 2,000 poppies this year, last year the amount ordered being lamentably short. Mrs. Barbara Smart, bingo convenor, report- ed this project continues to be successful. Mrs. Ethel Nesbitt stated while the Field Day draw prize was somewhat below last year in receipts it was still a successful project. A definite request will be made to members of the branch to assist in the weekly bingos, and a letter of appreciation posted thanking those who have already helped. Mrs. Chris Morris, membership convenor, re- ported there are now 79 members. Mrs. Avila Richardson, treasurer, reported the cost of sending four students to the Peace Garden sports program was $516.00 and that all of them had enjoyed the opportunity. Letters will be sent to various organizat- ions requesting them to 'bid' on catering for the Nov. 11 banquet, with the menu desired en- closed. 4 Mrs. Bobbie Winters thanked all those who had worked with her on the August Field Day. Mrs. Winters and Mrs. Chris Dunham assisted by Mrs. Ethel Nesbitt volunteered to re-open the kitchen serving both snacks and dinners. Mrs. Lorraine Huard reported she had pre- sented the customary pin to member Joyce Rich- ardson, who has left. for employment in Fort Frances. Mrs. Alice Potvin, Mrs. Lil Parent and Mrs. Barbara Smart were appointed lunch hostesses "continued page 13........
