Smith, Municipal Engin+ eer, that July I6th has been set for a meeting regarding the re-paving of town toads and pla- cement of storm sewers. Council will investigate burning refuse in the Hacquoil pit acting on information from Fire Chief Peter Doig. They will confer with Terrace Bay Council concerning letter from the Ministry of Environ-] ment regarding the land fill site and erection of snow fences. They were in agreement and will endorse the Municipality of Peel's action in protesting to the Junior Hockey Association regarding violen-| ce in minor hockey." C.G. Tripp, CPR Supt. wrote protesting the defacing of his property by students. This will be investigated. Notice was received the Northwestern Ontario Municipal Association will hold its convention October I3th in Kenora. R.B. Simon was awarded the insurance cover- age on the former post office building. Clerk, A.J. Gauthier was authorized to proceed with arrangements to have the recent property acquired by the town sub-divided into building lots. General accounts totalling $2,484.64, water works accounts $22.50 and M.M. Dillon account $5I0I. were passed for payment. A request for water service from a trailer owner was deferred for further consideration, and another trailer owner advised he will not proceed further with the placement of his trailer. Nipigon Canadian Legion were granted permis- sion to sell lottery tickets in Schreiber. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Macadam of Winnipeg are visiting Mr. and Mrs. Russell Macadam, and Mrs. Macadam, senior. Mr. and Mrs. R.K. Dott and daughters Dawn and Dyana have returned to Winnipeg after spending holidays with parents Mr. and Mrs. Godfrey Birch. ANNOUNCEMENT Brian and Ruth Ann Birch of Schreiber are happy to announce the arrival of their chosen son Jason (a brother for Debra and Karen) on Monday, July 24th, I974. Jason is 20 months old. 50TH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATED Mr. and Mrs. Joe Campbell Joe and Winnie (Taylor) Campbell, whose 50th wedding anniversary occurred on March 3rd, re- newed their marriage vows on July 5th, at a special service in Holy Angels Roman Catholic Church in Schreiber, with Father George Topp officiating. The ceremony deferred until all their family could be home to attend. The bridesmaid, the bride's sister, Gladys Taylor - now Mrs. Henry Nolan of London, and many other relatives and friends attended the happy occasion. Mrs. Campbell chose a long gown in golden tones, with full long sleeves, and a corsage of golden roses. : - Following the church service a dinner was held in the Curling Rink when Father Topp off- ered the Grace and George Birch was Master of Ceremonies. Keith Penner, M.P. proposed the toast to the Queen, Jack Stokes, MLA, the toast to Winnie and Joe, and Reeve H.J. McParland pre- sented the good wishes of the community. Messages of congratulation were read from the Governor General, Prime Minister Trudeau, and placques received from both the Federal and Provincial Governments, with a personal letter from the Hon. William Davis. Mr. Birch after speaking of his own happy relationship on The Road, when both were work- ing, said he could understand Joe's gratifica- tion in seeing four generations as telegraphers - his father, John Campbell; Joe, his son Russ- ell (now Chief Despatcher in Toronto Terminal) and, his grandson, Michael Souliere, who has just started.
