Allen requested and received direction from the Board re: Athletic Field in Terrace Bay. Trustee R. Weeks introduced the matter of a trip to Rome, at Christmas, by approximately twenty Manitouwadge High School students. The Director of Education is to research the pro- posal and report to the Board at the August meeting. The next regular Board meeting will be held at the Marathon High School, at 7:00 p.m., on Tuesday, August 27, I974. SENIOR CITIZENS WEEK OBSERVED ~ Senior Citizens Week, with the slogan, "We- 're Living Every Minute of It" was observed in Terrace Bay with a round of activities for all Senior Citizens in the area, including the res- idents of Birchwood Terrace. Many retired people, who don't consider themselves as over the hill yet, joined in bow- ling, game activities and lunch at the Recrea- tion Complex. The Terrace Bay Town Council, in conjunction with the Ladies Auxiliary, Royal Canadian Leg- ion, Branch 223, held open house in the Legion Hall on Wednesday evening. Residents of Birch- wood Terrace, some of the staff there, the ex- ecutive of the Auxiliary and the men's Legion, senior citizens and other interested persons gathered in the hall to enjoy dancing to the music of George Churney and Bill Megraw, who had donated their services for the evening. Later a sing song, led by Mrs. Edna Beddard, accompanied by George Churney on the accordion, provided great entertainment for all present. Lunch was served by members of the Auxiliary Leon Theriault was in charge of the bar. It was rumoured that the "Oldsters" had such a good time they didn't want to leave the party when the midnight hour rang out. On Sunday afternoon, Bill Jones opened his cottage at White Sand Lake, and the residents of Birchwood Terrace, with others were invit- ed to spend the afternoon there. Some went boating on the lake, others just sat and en- joyed the sun, and the lunch provided for a picnic. id Friday afternoon, a Wine and Cheese party was held in the Reception Hall of Birchwood Terrace..
