FAGE 18 TERRACE BAY NEWS JULY 4, 1974 INFORMATION ONTARIO - By Bev Young A total of I,6I8 junior forest rangers, 188 of them girls, is being employed this summer by the Ministry of Natural Resources. Duties, which include a number of resource jobs throughout the province, begin July 3rd and end August 27th. ATTENTION FISHERMEN ... Each spring Ministry of Natural Resources staff have to extinguish many fires caused by fishermen. At this time of year the flash fuels on the ground are highly flammable ... Please be extra careful with your smoking material and if you must light a lunch fire select a safe spot and put it dead out before you leave. BY DOING SO YOU WILL HELP TO KEEP ONTARIO GREEN. BUYING A CAR ... People buy cars for many reasons, but one thing they have in common is that no one wants a car purchase to turn into a source of disappointment and unexpected ex- pense. And so, the Motor Vehicle Dealer Section of the Ontario Ministry of Consumer and Comm- ercial Relations, which registers motor veh- icle dealers and salesmen in the Province has released a pamphlet to aid prospective car buyers. ; If you follow the suggestions outlined in the publication you will probably be able to narrow your car-buying worries down to the time period when they are most productive - before you buy. For more information on this subject and many others dealing with consumer protection contact the Northern Affairs Office Peninsula Building, Marathon or phone 229-II53. Bat Fact The fishing bat of Central America and the Caribees use echo-location "sonar' to find food. When the bat locates small fish at the surface, it skims the water and spears its prey with strong talons. Fast Talkers Don't talk too fast--you might say something you haven't thought of yet. TODAY'S CHILD BY HELEN ALLEN Mo SEE Se THE TORONTO 51) SYNDICATE Ross is a good-looking boy, and his disposition and manners are as pleasant as his appearance. Just turned 12, Ross has dark hair, expressive brown eyes and rosy cheeks. He is sturdily built and healthy. Ross is warm-hearted, affectionate and outgoing, liking people and animals. He is the kind of boy adults appreciate because he enjoys grown-up company and is co-operative and polite. At present, Ross attends a school for exceptional children (in his case exceptional meaning below average). He is in a special grade in the senior section. He has the intelligence to go to a vocational school when he reaches the secondary school level. Ross is active and keen on sports. Soccer is his favorite but he 'plays most games. Fond of music, he likes to sing at school functions. He joins whole-heartedly in youth activities at church. Though Ross does not read much himself, he enjoys someone reading to him, especially at bedtime. Ross needs a mother and father who will value his affectionate nature and who will give him warmth, love and encouragement. He will do best as the only child or as the youngest in his adop- tion home because he tends to compete with other children.
