JULY 4, 1974 TERRACE BAY NEWS 2 PAGE I5 REBEKAH LODGE MEETING Final plans were, at Ruby Rebekah Lodge meeting on June 26, for the luncheon to be served to the bus load of students going from Western United States and Canada to the United Nations. The hot meal, an annual project for many years, of the Rebekahs and I.0.0.F., here is planned for II a.m. in the town hall. The committee in charge this year are Mesdames Be- th Macadam, Lil Harris, Helen Wallace, Eirene Harness, Annie Niemi, Edith Ibey, Florence Fischer, Dora Weaver and Miss Irene Spicer. Members of both Lodges will be contacted to assist. : The C.P.T. Humanitarian Committee reported making a donation to H.U.G. (Help Us Grow) an organization to assist children devoid at birth of the necessary substances in their bod -ies to grow in stature; the purchase of a number of adjustable aluminum canes to add to the supplies in the loan cupboard. This loan cupboard, stocked with supplies such as wheelchairs, canes, hospital beds and similar articles; are loaned to any person in the district free of charge and is one Lodge project which is highly regarded by the public. In addition from the Committee funds they also assist distressed people in other practical ways. It was also reported flowers and cards had been given to members ill at home or in hospit- al. Mrs. Agnes Evans of Dryden Lodge was wel- comed as a visitor. Mrs. Lil Harris, N.G. and Mrs. Dora Weaver P.N.G. presided for the meeting. WESTFORT WINS FASTBALL TOURNAMENT A one day rain delay didn't dampen the spir- it of the tournament, as spectacular fastball was displayed. In Sundays opening draw a grandslam homerun by Charlie Simmer highlighted Schreiber Mayfair's 9-4 win over Nipigon Multi- ply. Nipigon International powered their way to a I5 to 8 victory over Kakabeka Falls with Gord Winfield, Gary Flewelling and George Celinski hitting homeruns. The Schreiber Juniors were left to the breaking grandslam homerun and a 2 run shot by Ted Winters powered Schreiber Mayfair to 9-2 win over Schreiber Juniors. Three runs batted in by Joe Kompon and the 4 hit pitch- ing of Rod Skirving took Westfort to a 5-I win over Nipigon International and wrapped up the "A" series Championship. A thrill a minute cliff hanger highlighted the "B" series championship, game with Kakabeka edging Schreiber Mayfair 8 to 7. The O'Keefe Awards of $250. went to Westfort, $I25. to Nipigon International, $I00. to Kakabeka and $75. to Mayfair. Miss Madeline Clavelle of New York and Jean Clavelle of Montreal are visiting their brother, Jimmy at his home at Walker Lake. Miss Virginia May of Guelph and her fiance Jim Hair of Chatham, spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. D. May. Mr. and Mrs. Fred McColeman and their fam- " ily were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Chal McCuaig in Atikokan last week enjoying the towns 75th Anniversary celebrations. Also in Atikokan for the event were Mr. Mrs. Roy Mills. and Miss Muriel Nesbitt and Miss Yvonne Munroe of Sault Ste. Marie are the guest of Mr. and Mrs. David Nesbitt. Stanley Ilijow and son Danny spent the weekend with Mr. Walter Ilijow. Doris Lehto is home from college in Sault Ste.
