PAGE I4 TERRACE BAY NEWS JUNE IS, I974 Miss Melanie Ross, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Neil Ross, Schreiber was granted her honours Bachelor of Science Degree in Administrative Dietetics from the University of Ottawa on June 9, I974. She has been accepted to do grad- uate work at the Health Sciences Cen- tre, Winnipeg, Manitoba. SCHREIBER TOWN TOPICS Miss Janet Roffey, treasurer of the local association, recently attended a seminar for Ontario Credit Unions held in Guelph Univer- sity. Schreiber had the smallest membership of any of the Unions represented at the meet- ing and the others were filled with admiration when Miss Roffey reported the local assets and sound financial condition, and then moved to resounding, laughing applause when she named the ridiculously low delinquent count. : Councillors J.S. Caccamo and R.A. Krause, accompanied by their wives, represented Schreiber, at the party given in Thunder Bay, honouring Lesley Milks, and other members of the Department of Highways, attended by some 400. Mr. Milks, Divisional Engineer, for many years with the Department had been most help- ful with advice to Schreiber, his hometown, and judging by the many who came from the district to congratulate him, equally co-operative with other municipalities. ALTAR SOCIETY ANNUAL MEETING Election of officers took place at the meet- ing Sunday evening for the I974-75 term of St. Berchman's Altar Society with the following elected - President, Mrs. Camilla Legault; Vice president, Mrs. Josephine Kenney; Secre- tary, Mrs. Mary Schelling, Treasurer, Mrs. Agnes Legault; Card secretary, Mrs. Prina Ger- ow; and Mass Cards are to be in.charge of Mrs. Anne Todesco. The meeting opened and closed with prayer. Mrs. Todesco, retiring treasurer, presented a resume of the year's activities and a favour- able report on a recent entertainment. A bingo was planned for July I6éth. Prizes to be misc- ellaneous and cash. The minutes were approved as read. It was decided to mail cards to residents of Birchwood Terrace Senior Citizens home. A discussion was had regarding a museum be- ing established in the village to house anti- ques and artifacts of early life in this area. This was tabled for further discussion. The retiring president was thanked for her past three years leadership. It was decided on changing the date of the monthly meetings from the first Thursday of the month to the second Tuesday of the month. The organization will take a recess from meetings during July and August. The president, Mrs. Camilla Legault wished the members and happy and healthy holiday. The hostess, Mrs. Kenney served luncheon and a pleasant hour was spent in reminiscing. ROSSPORT TOWN TOPICS Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Craigie and Mrs. Tom Craig- ie of Victoria, B.C. and Mrs. G. Shoble of Thunder Bay renewed acquaintances in the vill=- age. All members and relatives of the Craigie family who at one time were pioneer commercial fishermen in Rossport. Mrs. Josephine Hubelit returned to Parisie- nne Island lighthouse near Sault Ste. Marie after spending some time at the Lakehead and here. She was accompanied home by her grand- son Daniel Campbell. Mr. and Mrs. Doug Ray of Nipigon spent the weekend with their uncle, Alfred Ray. Mrs. Esther Seppala is a patient in McCausland Hospital, Terrace Bay. The Windjammer Novelty Shop and the Thunder Mug Shop -has opened for the summer season.
