Bill is now Sports' Co-Ordinator for Youth in Action in the vast area from Atikokan to Manitouwadge, working with the various Recreation Directors. His headquarters is in Thunder Bay. STOKES SHOWER: Miss Cathy Stokes, bride-elect of June Ist. was honoured by her friends at a shower-tea arranged in St. John's Church Hall on May 26th. | Receiving with Miss Stokes were Miss Sheila McParland, Mrs. Jack Stokes (her mother) and Mrs. Bruce Simon. Mrs. Harold Gellert was the table hostess and the servitors were the Misses Karen and Kathy Guina, Janice and Joyce Cluett, Lola Scott, Susan Dimmery, Joan Persson and Elaine Ross. The tea was poured by Mrs. Robert Kinney and Mrs. John Gagnon, Mrs. Eva Brown and Mrs. Elmer Persson. Mesdames Donald Beno, W.A. Mullins, D'Arcy McGuire, D.Q. Hamilton, John Power and J.P. Guina replenished. The gifts were opened by Pamela Glad, Barbara Glad and Debbie Dimmery and Ann Stokes was in charge of the guest book. Attending the party from out of town were the bride's grandmother Mrs. Eva Brown of Thun- der Bay, her aunt and cousin Mrs. Elmer Perss- on and Joan Persson of Terrace Bay, and Miss Sheila McParland of Calgary. An additional flair was added to the occas- ion by having two sets of identical twins as servitors - Karen and Kathy Guina, and Janice and Joyce Cluett. COSTA SHOWER: Miss Mary Costa, bride-elect of June 15, was honoured at a shower-tea held in the Catholic Parish centre on May 25th when she was assiste in receiving by Mrs. Joseph Scarfo of Thunder Bay, who is to be her matron of honour, her mother, Mrs. Vincenzo Costa and her grandmothe Mrs. Dominic Commisso. ~ Mrs. Cosimo Figliomeni was dining room hos- tess and presiding at the tea tables were Mes- dames Peter Commisso, Frank Figliomeni, Carme- la Costa and Philip Figliomeni. The servitors were the Misses Ida Commisso, Mary Figliomeni, Angelina Veneziano, Rosanne Speziale, Sylvia Speziale, Sandra Commisso, Linda Commisso, Teresa Figliomeni, Mrs. Nick Commisso and Mrs. Peter Commisso. Replenishing were Mesdames Joseph Costa, Peter Speziale, Frank Commisso, Anthony Fiorenza, Cosimo Commisso and Peter Speziale. Opening the gifts were the Misses Rosa Costa, Mary Costa, Maria Commisso and Franca Costa. The guest book was circulated by Rhonda Figliomeni and Susanne Costa. On June 6, I9I6 - 58 years ago - the Schreiber municipal council gave a banquet to honour Schreiber men 'going to the Front' wi- th the 94th Regiment from the Lakehead -- H. H. Thomas, Cliff Pope, Joe Depew, Hugh Stewa- rt, Lionel McCuaig, Freddie Riley and Ambrose St. Jean, of whom, Cliff Pope, Freddie Riley and Ambrose St. Jean were killed in action. The soldiers were presented with fountain pens, at the banquet by the council who at that time were E.J. O'Brien, A.W. Hadley, Percy Pincombe and G.H. Reid, with J.C. McIn- tosh as Reeve and Thomas Bosler as town clerk. Preference wili be given to tradesmen who have obtained a Trades Qualification Certificate or who have completed an Industrial Electrical App- renticeship.
