SCHREIBER AUXILIARY KEEPING BUSY Mrs. Barbara Davey was initiated into mem- bership of the, Auxiliary to the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch I09, at their regular meeting on May 7th - Jean Crook, president, conducting the ceremony. Mrs. Crook stated the Branch has volunteered to cater for the auxiliary's birthday dinner on May 25th, when 25 members will be presented with their 25 year membership pins. Mrs. Lilian Mills agreed to be telephone convener for May, calling those needed to work at the Sunday social evening, which Mrs. Barb- ara Smart reported, are continuing to be most successful. Mrs. Chris Morris reported sixty-one mem- bers have paid their dues, leaving I6 still in arrears. Mrs. Georgina Davis, sports convener, re- ported conferring with Charles Wilde, Phys. Ed. teacher in Lake Superior High School, on the number of students, both junior and senior high school, interested in attending the Peace Gardens program, sponsored by the Royal Canad- ian Sports' Foundation Ltd. saying the sports committee of the auxiliary are hoping to send two at least this year. It was agreed to present the usual two one hundred dollar bursarys at the June 27th grad- uation ceremonies of Lake Superior High School. Mrs. Davis also described the Scholarship, by Legion Command, Winnipeg, available to stu- dents intending to go on for a degree in Phys. Ed., with academic marks counting as well as sports ability and one only, available to Northwestern Ontario students. : Seventeen members from the Terrace Bay Auxiliary have signified their intention to attend the birthday dinner - Manitouwadge, White River, and Nipigon auxiliaries have prior committments. . It was decided that starting I975 new memb- ers will pay a two dollar initiation fee, to assist in the cost of pin, rule book, etc., and that, also then, membership dues will be increased from $2.00 to $3.00. Mrs. Crook reported on the recent regional meeting in Nipigon, saying I8 branches had been represented. Mrs. Davis resigned as sports convener. Plans for the August field day program were held over for the June meeting. Mrs. Ethel Nesbitt, Mrs. Helen Nesbitt and Mrs. Emerald Paradis were named as June lunch hostesses. The minutes of past general and executive meetings, and lengthy correspondence, and the financial statement were adopted as read by Mrs. Bea McCuaig and Mrs. Avila Richardson. REBEKAHS HOLD NOMINATIONS First nominations for elected officers for the next term took place at the Ruby Rebekah Lodge meeting on May 8th, with the following named: Mrs. Gladys Hamilton, Noble Grand; Mrs. Beth Macadam, recording secretary; Mrs. Helen Wallace, financial secretary; Mrs. Mary Fay Green, treasurer; Mrs. Chris Morris, trustee. Mrs. Hamilton, reporting for the C.P.T. committee said a Penny Auction and grocery ham- per draw is planned for June 28th with all mem- bers asked to donate.
