MAY I, I974 TERRACE BAY NEWS PAGE 7 BOARD OF EDUCATION MEETING The April 20th meeting of the Lake Superior Board of Education was held at the Marathon High School and the minutes of meeting No. 4/74 were declared adopted. The disbursements for the month of March, 1974, in the amount of $270,341.95, were approved. Reports on A) 1973 Enrolment and Ceilings and B) I973 Grants and Revenues to Expenditur- es were discussed, with H.J. Boudreau respond- ing to Trustees' questions. The Director advised of recently announced increases to the per pupil basic expenditure. A progress report on the I974 Budget was presented. It is expected that the Budget Com -mittee will meet on Monday, May 6, to review the third Draft, and that the I974 Budget will be approved at the May IIth meeting of «the Board. H.J. Boudreau presented a report on the status of negotiations for a new bus contract for 1974-75. The Board will establish a Reserve Fund for Teacherage Replacement to be accounted for though a separate Bank Account, and including the net proceeds from future sales of Teacher- ages after payment of outstanding loans or de- bentures. ; Reliable Life Insurance will be requested to amend the wording of paragraph 3, page 8, of the Master Policy on Student Accident In- surance for 1974, effective September I, I974. The Chairman was authorized to sign a Tui- tion Agreement with the Government of Canada, Indian and Northern Affairs Branch regarding Treaty Indians educated by this Board. Correspondence from the Honourable Thomas L. Wells, Minister of Education, indicated the extent of the Ministry's assistance to The Lake Superior Board of Education's problem of declining enrolments. Literature from O.I.S.E. and 0.S.T.C. announced a Trustee Conference, May I2-I4 in Toronto. 0.P.S.T.A. will hold its Annual Convention in Hamilton, June 2-4. Confederation College Board of Governors extended an invitation to The Lake Superior Board of Education to attend the retirement dinner in honour of D.A.R. Bradshaw on May 4. The Director advised the Board of the app- roved Capital Programme for I974.
