APRIL I7, I974 TERRACE BAY NEWS PAGE 9 RECREATION NEWS JUNIOR BADMINTON PROGRAMME - TWO SESSIONS REMAIN: The last two Junior Badminton sessions will 'take place this Saturday, April 20th and the following Saturday, April 27th. These sessions are designed for the winners of the local elimination tournament only as they must prepare to compete in the North Shore Badminton tournament which will be held in Manitouwadge on May 4th. AMATEUR WINE-MAKING COURSE TO START NEXT TUESDAY, APRIL 23rd: The amateur wine-making course which is being sponsored by Confederation College as well as the Terrace Bay Recreation Department will not commence until Tuesday, April 23rd. Those who have already registered will be called by the Recreation Office giving the time and location. ANYONE WHO MIGHT BE INTER- ESTED IN REGISTERING CAN DO SO RIGHT UP UNTIL TUESDAY, APRIL 23rd. Course fee is $I5.00 which covers five weeks of 2-hour sessions each week. Course instructor is Mr. Gerrie Dickson. Register by calling the Recreation Office at 3542. ARENA REPAIRS: Now that the arena season is over, this facility will be closed to the public until the end of May which will allow for some major repairs that must be completed. RIFLE AND PISTOL CLUB PLANS PROGRESSING: On April IIth, the second planning meet- ing for the formation of a Rifle and Pistol Club was held. A steering committee was formed at that time to look into a number of land sites. As soon as the snow is all gone, two or three various land sites will be looked over and a location will be decided upon and brough back to the third meeting which will be decided upon and advertised at a later date. Keep watching the News for further details. Anyone interested in finding out more about the formation of the club could call Mr. Terry Korzinski. COMING EVENTS: Friday, April I9th: Horticultural Society General Spring Meeting, large meeting room. Monday, April 22nd - Spring Art Course session #4, I - 7 p.m., conference room. Tuesday, April 23rd - Amateur Wine-Making course first session - 7:00 p.m. BIBLE SOCIETY The public is cordially invited to a meeting of the Bible Society in the Anglican Church Hall on WEDNESDAY, APRIL, 24th at 8 P.M. Guest speaker will be Rev. R. Magee, District Secretary from North Bay, who will show a film, "A New Spring in Coppermine." Lunch will be served. RUBY REBEKAH LODGE MEETING Ruby Rebekah Lodge 279 held their regular meeting on Wednesday, April I0th. Mrs. E. Harris N.G. and V.G. Gladys Hamilton presided Mrs. Hamilton gave the Sick and Visiting report and also a report of the CPT Humani- tarian Committee. A donation was sent to Amythest House to purchase lawn furniture. New canes were ordered. A donation was given to the Schreiber Cancer Campaign. It was agreed to again give a Bursary to the Top Commercial Course Students in Schreiber Campus. : Tea tickets were distributed for the Reb- ekah Spring Tea on April 27th in the town hall. Mrs. R. Macadam will attend the District Meeting on April I3th in place of Mrs. Mary Legault presently on vacation. New supplies were ordered. A cake walk will be held following the April 24th meet- ing. G. Hamilton will convene this event. ROYAL CANADIAN LEGION ~ SCHREIBER BRANCH 109 GENERAL MEETING MONDAY, APRIL 22np 7:30 P.M. BUSINESS: Ballot on new proposals for ' erection of hall. No mail ballots have been issued and all members are requested to attend in order that a firm decision can be made. "Corky" Winston, Helen Sanders, Rose Mar- ie Gillis and Karin Lundberg, all of Toronto spent Easter weekend as guests of Marge and Sax Lundberg.
