APRIL IO, I974 TERRACE BAY NEWS PAGE 19 APPOINTMENT OF ASSISTANT CO-ORDINATOR PRIMARY AND JUNIOR EDUCATION (K-6) Former Schreiber girl and daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Holland of Schreiber Lorna Holland (Mrs. Lorna Scott) has been appointed to the position of Assistant Co-Ordin -ator, Primary and Junior Education, effective August I, I974. Mrs. Scott, who is at present a Primary Con- sultant with The Halton Board of Education, has served as a teacher and consultant in this reg- ion since I958. As a primary consultant, Mrs. Scott has con- ducted in-service training in Halton County and throughout the province on Primary Methods, Mathematics, and Language. She has been an in- structor for Ministry courses in Primary Meth- ods and in Mathematics K-8, and has served as consultant for the publication of three Primary Mathematics books. She has been a member of the Association for Children with Learning Dis- abilities, the Mathematics, Outdoor Education and the Early Childhood Education Program Councils, and served as Chairman of the Halton Economic Policy Committee (I970-7I). She is currently a member of the Halton PIJI and: Rem- edial Reading Committees. Mrs. Scott holds a Specialist's Certificate in Primary Education and in Special Education, and the Junior Education Certificate. She has taken courses from the Ontario Curriculum Institute and Syracuse University in Develop- mental Reading and Child Growth and Develop- ment. She is married, and has two sons, a broth- er, Emmett Holland and old family friend, Denis Neylon, all of Schreiber. Mrs. Scott is particularly interested in team planning for the implementation of pro- gram for the total Primary or Junior Division rather than a single grade. L:S«H:S. PLACES THIRD The Lake Superior High School Badminton team placed 3rd in the NSSSAA Tournament in Nip-Rock on Tuesday, April 2nd, I974. Individually the teams places 2nd in the Junior Boys doubles and 3rd in the mixed junior doubles. The junior and senior girls doubles and mixed senior doubles were also 3rd.
