PAGE 12 TERRACE BAY NEWS MARCH 20, I974 RECREATION NEWS TERRACE BAY MIDGETS WIN NORTH SHORE CHAMPION- SHIP: Congratulations are certainly in order to the Terrace Bay Midgets for having defeated Marathon two games straight by the scores of 8-4 and 7-2 to win the North Shore Champion- ship. Our local Midgets will be one of the entr- ies in the Northwestern Ontario Midget Play- offs which will be held in Fort Frances on April 6th and 7th. In the meantime, exhibition games will prob- ably be arranged between now and the Northwes- tern Ontario tournament. Refer to the arena schedule on page I3 for such arrangements. TERRACE BAY "RAIDERS" LEAD SERIES: On Sunday, March I7th the Terrace Bay "Raiders" defeated the Manitouwadge "Merchants" by a score of I2-3 in their first game in the two out of three series. The second game will be held in Manitouwadge, and if necessary, the third game will be scheduled in the Terrace. Bay arena. RECREATION LEADERSHIP STUDENT: As part of the Block Placement and Field Training for Recreation Leadership students at Confederation College, the Terrace Bay Recreation Department will have a Recreation student from March I8th to April IIth. The student's name is Ian Smith and Ian originally hails from Manitouwadge and is in his fourth and final semester in the Recreation course. During his stay, Ian will be assisting in the programmes of the Recreation Department. We are hopeful that Ian will enjoy his stay in Terrace Bay. PHOTOGRAPHY COURSE: As adverrised in last week's News, the Rec- reation Department will be receiving names of individuals who might be interested in forming a Photography club. ; Before a public meeting can be called, the Recreation Office would like to receive a num-- ber of names of people who are interested. If you are interested, please call 825-3542. JUNIOR BADMINTON PROGRAMME : Plans are already underway to stage a local Junior Badminton elimination tournament. This tournament will declare our representatives to compete in the 2nd annual North Shore Junior Badminton Tournament, which will be held in Manitouwadge on May 4th. More information on this tournament will be posted in the News and explained to players.
