TERRACE BAY NEWS - Yol. 17 No. 3 January 23, I974 I5¢ Per Copy TERRACE BAY CHOIR TO ATTEND FESTIVAL Two groups of young Choristers, known as the Joy and Hosanna Singers, of the Community Church, under the direction of Mrs. Margaret McKague, will have the privelege of attending their first festival in Thunder Bay this week- end. ® There are 240 young singers registered. On Sunday, a charter is to be presented to the Thunder Bay Chapter of the Choristers Guild. The Choristers Guild provides a sharing programme of Children's Church music. The Choristers Guild is known around the world. The festival is not competitive, with all the choirs learning the same music. Mr. Ron Nelson, of St. Paul, Minnesota will diréct the festival, and give the songs the finishing touches. The festival theme is "Life of Christ" with a Festival Concert on Sunday afternoon at 3:30 in St. Paul's United Church, Thunder Bay, P., to which the public is cordially invited. Any parent or other person interested in music would find this a worthwhile concert. The young singers will travel by bus to Thunder Bay. The Joy Singers include: Carla Crockford, Melody Fisher, Dawn McBride, Jo Ann McBride, Cheryl Moore, Cindy Thompson, Carolyn Vander=- kam, and the Hosanna Singers are Lesley Adey, Susan Barnett, Tracey Bulawka, Corinne Cotton, Rose Ann Cvitkovich, Joyce Kurylo, Kathy Lang, Clifford Legacy, Janice Liebrock, Cathy Mac- Kenzie, Alan McKague, Jeff McKague, Heather Nugent, Glenn Pelto, Mary Pluta, Jackie Rogers Tracey Stachiw and Mark Vanderkam. continued page 2 TERRACE BAY WINTER CARNIVAL PLANS At the time of this write-up, the January 2Ist Winter Carnival Planning Committee had not yet been held. Therefore, more details concerning the Carnival will be left until next week's News. The Winter Carnival Planning Committee is pleased to announce that the following groups and organizations will be participating in some way in the upcoming Winter Carnival. Girl Guides, Ski Club, Ladies Curling Club, Recreation Department, Catholic Women's League, Kimberly-Clark Company Limited, Terrace Bay Band, Women of. the Moose, Men's Curling Club, Minor Hockey Assoq., Kinsmen Club of Terrace Bay, Electrical Union, Canadian Legion, St. Martin's Staff, Figure Skating Club and Art Club. In addition to the groups mentioned above, there are also interested individuals who have indicated their assistance in some way or another in the Winter Carnival. The Planning Committee extends an open in- vitation to anyone who would like to attend future meetings. One of the first things you can do to supp- ort will be to buy a Carnival button when they go on sale. More details to be published in next week's issue of the News. : TERRACE BAY ADVANCES TO DISTRICT PLAYDOWNS The Royal Canadian Legion Zone Curling Play -downs were held this past weekend with teams from Manitouwadge, Marathon and Terrace Bay. Terrace Bay's winning team of Charlie Koski, Al McKenzie, Dave Gunter & Archie Heinrich will now advance to the District Playdowns in Thunder Bay.
