These were passed but Council had a few questions and would request a Library representative attend Councils next meeting. A letter from the Ministry of Community and Social Services outlining a proposal for app- ointments to boards of district homes for the aged was received. Under this proposal seven members of such a board would be appointed py the province and five be chosen by participat- ing municipalities. Schreiber and Terrace Bay are listed to share one representative. i A list of uncollectable taxes were present- ed under new business totalling $37,097.94 and Council moved to right off these taxes. A complaint had been received regarding the condition of the washrooms at the Recrea- tion Centre Arena during the Labour Day Dance. Police Chief Barnett and Councillor Brass- ard were authorized to attend the Zone I meet- ing of Police Chiefs on October 26th. Council is doing their best to obtain the required fittings as soon as possible. : Garbage is a popular subject at Council meetings lately and again a discussion was held on the condition of the land fill site and the number of pick-ups in the town site. It was reported Marathon is presently doing a study of the area with regards to weekly pick- ups, etc. and Council will obtain a copy of this to give them more information. A complaint was received about the pile up of debris behind the theatre. Since the new manager is new in town a letter will be sent regarding this. Ontario Hydro notified Council they have a surplus house in town. Council stated they have no use for the house. Council adjourned their regular meeting and went into camera for the duration.
