Brian Birch, who presided for the meeting, congratulated Bruce Gordon, Schreiber past president, on his new honour in being elected deputy governor, saying that the local club is very proud in having a fourth member a deputy governor, the previous ones being Irv- ing Bailey, Norman McCuaig and George Riley. Mr. Birch reviewed the Schreiber club's past year under the leadership of Bruce Gord- on - receiving the Boak Efficiency Award, Ex- pansion Award and President of the Year Award, in addition having him elected as Deputy Gov-" ernor. The club, he continued, has made quite a name, for it's participation in district even- ts, and local projects; their strong represen- tation at the Fort Frances convention - runn=- er-up for the Costume Award, and the renown in bringing a float some 400 miles to enter the parade, runner-up for the Bulletin Award. And he gave a special appreciation of Kin Ian Macadam for his creation of the cannon used on the float. : : Bruce Gordon was presented with his past president's pin-and a gift from both clubs. Claude and Karen LeTour, transferred from Geraldton were welcomed as new members, and, Wayne and Joan Stewart, as new members, yet to be initiated. Farewell gifts were presented to Dave and Lynn Bolton - Dave being transferred by Avco Co. to Sault Ste. Marie. A cabaret party followed the meeting, con- siderably livened by Ray Cook's ingenious fines, to enrich the club's coffer for other social evenings. Photo below by Inez McCuaig.
