TERRACE BAY NEWS / Vol. 16° NO. 37 'September I9, I973 I5¢ Per-Copy ONTARIO HYDRO APPROVES NEW RATES FOR TERRACE BAY HYDRO SYSTEM 'Terrace Bay Hydro today announced that Ontario Hydro has approved a new rate schedule for utility customers. Under the new schedule, residential custom- ers using I300 kilowatthours of electricity a month on the metered electric water heater schedule will pay $16.73 instead of $I4.55. Continued inflation and increasing cost of power purchased from Ontario Hydro has made the rate change necessary. The adjustments will enable the Hydro Sys- tem to maintain a reasonable financial posit- ion in the forthcoming year and provide for the growing electrical needs of the community. The new rates will be in effect as of October Ist, I973. Terrace Bay Hydro Department. PUBLIC TO JOIN IN HOSPITAL PLANNING The Development Committee of McCausland 'lospital held a meeting on September IO, I973 Letters had been written to area health agen- cies and professionals to obtain their views regarding health services to be provided in an improved facility. Frank Anderson read the answers received to date and the committee ex- pects to hear from the others in the near fut- ure. It was decided that a more thorough review of present statistics on hospital utilization be performed. Pat Buck and Dorothy Rummery with the assistance of Dr. Adey and Vic Mazz- one will attempt to summarize the general trends revealed by these statistics and also to relate continued page 2 TERRACE BAY COUNCIL QUOTES The September I2th meeting of Township Council was chaired by Reeve Roy Bray and Councillors Brassard, Hale, Helmink and Megraw were present. The minutes of the last Council meeting were passed with the only business arising concerning Christmas decorations for the town. Three strings of lights will be purchased this year at an approximate cost of $I200. Although this is a large amount the Councill- ors were in agreement that they had to start somewhere with the purchase of only one string each following year or possibly missing a year to make up the cost. Accounts passed for payment for August were: Township $123,438.28; Hydro $9,886.57; Recreation $I3,I57.88 and Library $772.00. Correspondence was as follows: I) Approval by the Minister of Revenue of the Province of Ontario pursuant to Section I6 (I) of The Housing Development Act to the purchase of cer -tain lands by The Corporation of the Township of Terrace Bay from Kimberly-Clark Pulp and Paper Company Limited. 2) The Ministry. of the Environment's certificates of approval for the construction of a watermain and a sanitary sewer on Highway I7 for the Red-Dog Inn in the Township of Terrace Bay.3) The Building Inspec -tors report in the amount of $336,150. for August was approved. The Pinewood Court Home for the Aged sub- mitted the following minutes of a meeting held August 23rd: "On August 23rd the Thunder Bay Board of Management held a meeting with Mr. L. Crawford Director Homes for the Aged Ontar- io in relation to the project at Terrace Bay.
