PLAN CHRISTMAS BAZAAR November I7th was set, as the date for thein Christmas Bazaar by the Schreiber Catholic Women's League, at their regular September meet -ing. Various conveners for the tea, baking, knitting, etc. will be named later. Mrs. Lucette Chicoine, who presided, report--- ed the Labour Day event was successful. Mrs. Betty Ryan, Organization chairman, sta- ted there are now I76 members - with others still to pay dues. Members were reminded that the daily Rosary will be recited at 2 p.m. during October. Minutes were read by Mrs. Teresa Stortini and in the absence of Mrs. Simonne Connelly, Mrs. Rena Ross presented the treasurer's report FALL FAIR Although the Fall Fair, sponsored annually by St. Andrew's United Church, was again fin- ancially successful, the crowd attending al- most the same in numbers, with the usual out of town visitors including interested tourists, present, the general atmosphere was dampened somehow, by the railway strike, even though purse strings were not tightened. In addition to the auction, there were the usual displays of garden, produce, home baking, a white elephant counter and a penny auction. The Kinsmen again had their booth with no war- es to sell, but showing original advertisements of the many projects to which they contribute in the town and to McCausland Hospital, with a free draw, and the Association for the Mentally Retarded had their display counter. TERRACE BAY GUIDE NEWS The Ist Guider meeting of the 73/74 season was held at the home of chairman Myrtle McBride with seven Guiders present. The meeting open- ed with the Guide prayer. The first item on the agenda was a report on the Guiders wind-up party at the end of last season, a chinese smorgasbord supper was held at the home of Marilyn Saranpaa and was enjoy- ed by all those who attended. .ont'g page I7..
