TERRACE BAY NEWS Vol. 16 No. 29 July 25, 1973 I5¢ Per Copy TERRACE BAY COUNCIL QUOTES One of the shortest Council meetings was held on Wednesday, July I8th with Reeve Roy Bray and Councillors Hale, Helmink and Megraw attending. Minutes of the previous Council meeting were passed. Township accounts in the amount of $5I,I82. 33, Library $I,574.I4 and Hydro $I4,652.37 were passed for payment. By-Law No. 255 a by-law to regulate the use of land and the character, location and use of buildings and structures was read a first, second and third time and passed. A resolution pertaining to the purchasing of fourteen lots for future improvements from Kimberly-Clark of Canada Limited was passed by Council and will be sent to the Ontario Municipal Board for approval. The only correspondence dealt with at this meeting was the request for keys to the land fill site. Keys will be distributed on request with Council stressing this privilege must not be abused. The following Committees of Council were appointed until the end of the year - Recreation-Facility-P. Helmink; Program - P. Helmink, C. Brassard; Hydro-J. Hale; Fire and Police-C. Brassard; Public Works-W. Megraw; Special Committee Cemetery-J. Hale; Planning Committee~R. Bray, J. Hale; Committee of Coun- cil-Full Council; Signing Officers-W.R. Bray, J. Hale, W. Hanley, M. Simmer. Council concluded its meeting by setting regular meeting dates to begin again in August. They will meet again on August 7th and 2Ist. LEGION DISTRICT GOLF TOURNAMENT The Terrace Bay Legion was hosts to the District Golf Tournament with players partici- pating from Thunder Bay, Red Rock, Nipigon, Marathon and Terrace Bay. The golfers were most complimentary on the state of the Aguasabon Golf Course and geclfers enjoyed it so much, that they played another eighteen holes the next day. Congratulations go to Marathon Branch with the team of Fred Duffy, Les Dafoe, Joe Kolo- tylo and Mel Amadeo. This team now advance to play in the Provincial Tournament at Mars- den Branch in Manitoba. Mickey McFayden rep- resentative and sponsor of Labatt's Brewery, presented the awards.
