As a result of inspection and recommenda- tions of the Waste Management Branch of the Ministry of the Environment, extensive changes in operation of the land fill site and result- - ing changes in collection of garbage pertaining to commercial property, must be implemented. To meet the requirements of the Ministry, it is necessary to restrict the use of the land fill site to specified times. Effective July 3rd, the access to the land fill site will be restricted to the following open periods - Monday, 8 a.m. through til 4 p.m.; Tuesday; re-opened 8 a.m. Thursday, closed 4 p.m. Friday This will provide the Municipality with the required time to fulfill the provisions of the Act, with respect to compaction and cover. The present system of daily garbage collection from commercial establishments will be discontinued and garbage will be picked up from these prem- ises on the same basis as for residences, Tuesdays and Fridays. Again these changes will be publicized, and will not take effect until July 3rd. In the event that certain vehicles are re- quired, when the present source of vehicles are not available, an advertisement will be placed in the Terrace Bay News, requesting quo- tations on varying times of use. Mrs. Peggy Helmink commented on the attend- ance of the Lake Superior Board of Education meeting on Aims and Objectives of the Board. She stated that approximately twenty-five were in attendance. The problem of toys and bicycles, etc., being left on the roads at night will be look- ed into. A considerable clean-up campaign of Township properties will be undertaken. The Chamber of Commerce will be advised that Council has no objection to their setting up benches and waste receptacles, in the vac- ant area on Simcoe Plaza, east of the Munici- pal office.
