OFFICE & PROPERTY DONATED TO SENIOR CITIZENS The Bank of Montreal, Schreiber branch, has donated their present office and property to Schreiber in a gesture of appreciation to their long-time customers, for the use of senior citizens. G.D.G. Korman, manager, made the formal presentation to Reeve Harold McParland, with Lester McCuaig, president, offering the Chimo Club's appreciation of the gift. SCHREIBER COUNCIL QUOTES Schreiber town council at their regular meeting decided to place additional street lights at Walker Lake at an estimated cost of $2,200.00. Council requested the D.T.C. to inspect roads in regard to grading before the re- paving is started, and, consider drainage problems in the town. Some of the local associations contacted regarding the proposed medical health centre replied favorably while others felt they would like further information. be arranged with representatives of the org- anizations before a general public meeting is held. McCuaig is inquiring about electrical plug-ins for water thawing purposes. Mrs. Dorothy Rummery was re-appointed Schreiber representative to McCausland Hospital Board of Governors. Councillor R. A. Krause went into detail on the meeting of council with Dave Walsten, Dept. of Mines and Northern Affairs, and Ralph Poutane, Ministry of Natural Resources, when several areas were explored in a search for sites for a gravel pit and landfill. A lengthy discussion was held on updating the office work, which at present is time- consuming and laborious for the staff. Several types of equipment were described, and, no immediate change is being planned. It was decided to contact several firms for advice and costs. . Daylight Saving will be observed in the town from 2 a.m. April 29 to 2 a.m. October 28. The property committee will inspect the safe in the present Bank of Montreal to see if it would be of use in the town office. It was agreed to pay 17¢ a mile for a private car used on town business. The Road Supt. and Roads committee were asked to inspect the access road at Walker Lake. The D.T.C. will be asked for permission to have 30 minute parking signs in front of the town hall. LEGION AUXILIARY BRANCH 109 Mrs. Barbara McLaughlin, at the March meeting of the auxiliary to the Canadian Legion, reported the Hot Dog party served to the mice-on-ice had been a resounding success and attended by a horde of players. The auxiliary served this meal which is provided by the mothers. In response to a request for a convener for the Minor Hockey banquet, the reply was that the rule has always been for the play- ers' mothers to arrange the meal and supply the food, which the auxiliary then will serve continued on page 15....
