Among the many draw prizes were two specially-donated ones = a hair cut for a man, won by Wes Miller and Harold Milks and a lady's hair-do won by Eva Haughn and Bern Whent. A buffet lunch ended the evening. Hospital Bulletin - cont'd from page I In a sense it is an awesome thing being a trustee. One has a legal responsibility for ones own hospital and the quality of care provided for those admitted. One also has a duty to govern well on behalf of the com- munity and the tax payers in general. There are Hospital By-Laws and the Public Hospital Act to become familiar with. There are conference reports to read, governmental committee re- search to study and many other phases of hospital management to understand. There will be committee, executive and Board meetings to attend and many tasks to perform. But if one has a keen in- terest in the hospital, abundant ener- gy and time to fulfill ones assignments all these responsibilities are not be- yond the grasp of the ordinary citizen To be adequate for the role of hospital governor, anyone with dedication, de- termination and good sound judgment should consider the possibility of running for election. It is a simple procedure. Firstly, the interested person must be a curr- ent member of the Hospital Corporation with voting privileges; secondly, choose another member of the Corpora- tion who is willing to nominate the aspiring governor and then see that the candidate is properly introduced to the electors. The electors do the rest and the new governor, no matter how capable, finds himself in the midst of a thorough learning process. The Hospital Board has set up a nominating committee, but expects keen community participation and nomina- tions of candidates from the members at large during the election to be held at the annual meeting. - Public Relations Committee.
