TERRACE BAY COUNCIL QUOTES A: LATOUR RINK WINS NESCO TROPHY Mr. Wayne Young, of the Boy Scout Group Committee of Terrace Bay, met with Town Council on Tuesday evening, to discuss the need for funds to rejuvenate the Scout Camp building at White Sand Lake. Because the Boy Scout Association do not solicit funds, Wayne is a member of a special committee set up to try and solve the problem of finding the need- ed money to repair the camp and improve the road in to it. He explained that there are approximately I57 young people in Terrace Bay and I05 in Schreiber, who would make use of the facili- ties, if they could be brought up to standard. Letters have been sent out to various organ- izations in the area, requesting support for this worthwhile venture. Wayne assured Council that there were many men who had off- ered their services if the needed money could be raised. Council agreed to discuss the matter at their final budget meeting. Minutes were adopted as read and corres- pondence read. District 3, A.M.E.U., gave notice of the annual meeting to.be held in Toronto in August. Don Stewart, who had attended the 0.M.E.U./ A.M.E.U. convention in Toronto submitted a comprehensiye report, and was commended by Council for an excellent report. A letter from Jack Stokes, M.P.P. stated he supported the recent resolution of Marathon Council, regarding the Home for Senior Citi- zens, Birchwood Terrace, suggesting the gov- ernment pay the capital costs, rather than the municipalities involved. Photo by M. Lundberg. The Terrace Bay Ladies Curling Club pre- sented their I9th Annual Curling Bonspiel, which proved as always to be very successful. Rinks from Thunder Bay, Schreiber, Red Rock and Marathon took part. A dinner at the Moose Hall on Saturday was greatly enjoyed by everyone. A Terrace Bay rink, under Skip, Anne Latour took top honours, winning the Nesco trophy. With Ann were Dene Clancy, Jeannette Gunter and Dorothy Koski. Second was the Schreiber rink, Edna Cocks, Joy Riley, Wendy Weaver and Shirley Krystia. Third in the first event went to Terrace Bay, Donna Josus, Marge Liebrock, Rhea Beaulieu and Joyce Anderson.
