Joe Marcella, Jr., a trustee of the Lake Superior Board of Education, ad- vised that a local committee had been formed, along with similar committees in other towns involved in the Lake Superior Board area, to obtain infor- mation from local students, local gov- ernments, with respect to the aims and objectives of The Lake Superior Board and comments with respect to current operations. Having had representation from the Board of Governors of the McCausland Hospital and considering the I972 deficit with respect to working capital funds in the amount of approximately $II,000. Council approved a grant of $5,500 to assist the Board in meeting their financial committments. RECREATION NEWS "Opportunities for Youth": A reminder to students that Mr. Bill Hyder, representative for the "Opportun ities for Youth" programme, will be available to talk to any interested students on Wednesday evening, Febru- ary 21st, from 6:00 to. 10:00 p.m. in the large meeting room of the Recrea- tion Centre. If you would like to have Mr. Hyder assist you, simply drop down to the Recreation Centre between 6:00 and 10:00 p.m. Hockey Action: This coming Thursday, February 22nd, the Junior Superiors will host the Marathon Mercuries - game time 8 p.m. All league games for the North Shore Minor Hockey Association have been completed and the semi-finals for the North Shore playoffs will begin this weekend, February 24-25th. Be' sure to watch for posters around town indicating the day and time of Semi- final games. The Intermediates have completed their regular league schedule and in- formation on playoffs will be posted around town at a later date. Junior Badminton Resumes This Saturday: Another session for the Junior Bad- minton players will be held this com- ing Saturday from I0 a.m. to 12 noon. Exhibition Ringette Games: Since exhibition games could not be arranged at this time with Manitouwadge the Recreation Office is presently try- ing to make arrangements for exhibition' games with Red Rock. Since the minim- um age of players in Red Rock is IO years of age, some of our younger Ring- ette players will not have the oppor- tunity to play against Red Rock. Girls who registered for the programme will be informed of the details of these exhibition games. I972 Recreation Discs No Longer Accept- able: All members of the Terrace Bay Rec- reation Association are reminded that the brown Recreation discs and the yellow Swim Pool discs will no longer be accepted for any activities. The new I973 discs have been available at the Recreation Office for the past three weeks. Be sure to pick yours up.
