JANUARY 4, 1973 TERRACE BAY NEWS PAGE 9 ANNOUNCEMENT LAKESHORE COMMUNITY TELEVISION LIMITED TERRACE BAY wishes to make the following announcement Due to circumstances beyond our control, we are curtailing our servicing of all TV etc. as of January 15, 1973. We will of course honor all warranty work on those sets which we have sold. This has been brought on by the inability to procure service personnel, however, the main reason being that the Cable TV Service is requiring more and more of our time and it is our wish to provide a better service in this respect to the area. We expect to have our new Antenna site in operation by January 12, and at the same time Channel 13, the Educational Channel will also be provided. 4 will also be provided by above date, however, the results from this channel will not be satisfactory until the Transmitting power is raised which is expected by some time late Spring 1973. We regret that we find it necessary to curtail our service, however, it is hoped that this will enable us to serve you better in the long run. Bert Lohr CTV Channel Sports Slants - cont'd from page 8 out victorious. Had the final game wound up in a 5-5 tie, Russia would have won the series by one goal. If you haven't yet read Hockey Showdown, pick up a copy. There are several other interesting points that Harry Sinden makes which prove interesting. Now that we're in a brand new year and somewhere near the halfway mark of the NHL schedule, it might be a good idea to review Swami Shank's order-of-finish predictions made back in the early part of November . If you remember back that far, here's the way I picked them: East division: 1. Mont- real; 2. New York; 3. Boston; 4. Toronto; 5. Detroit; 6. Buffalo; 7. Vancouver; and 8. New York Islanders. West division: 1. Minnesota; 2. Chicago; .3. Los Angeles; 4. philadelphia; 5. St. louis; 6. Pitts- burgh Penguins; 7. California; 8. Atlanta Flames. Before I go on, I should mention that I remarked in those predictions that Buffalo sabres appeared to have put it together this year and could very well nudge out Toronto and/or Detroit for that fourth and final playoff spot in the east. The Sabres, obviously, look like they have put it together. If that French Connection line of Perreault, Martin and Robert can keep up its red-hot pace and Ken Dryden's brother Dave can keep coming up with those fine performances, the sabres will definitely be in there. So in the east division, the only real surp- rise has been Buffalo. But then again, when you look at it, the Sabres aren't really a surprise. After all, Punch Imlach did say that his team would be the first expansion team to win the Stanley Cup -- and they might do it -- not this year, but in the not too distant future. Needless to say, Boom Boom Geoffrion has done wonders with that Atlanta team in the west division and for one of the latest exp- ansion clubs, the Flames have looked great. I picked them last. After all, where else should a first-year team wind up? Aside from the 'Flames' tremendous showing to date, my west division prognostications weren't too bad. I'm surprised Chicago has done so well without Bobby Hull, but then again, young brother Dennis appears to have filled at least one of Bobby's skates and the Hawks are going well. But I'm still picking the North Stars from Minneapolis to finish ahead of the Hawks. We'll review those NHL standings again in a month or so and see how I stand. Have to mention something about those Toronto Maple Leafs, though, that's worth repeating. Toronto writers are saying that the decay of the Leafs set in about five years ago == and I agree. They say that the first mis- take the club made was sell two farm clubs and its players -- Rochester of the AHL and Victoria of the WHL. The second mistake the Leafs made was continued on page 10..... i
