REGIONAL C.W.L. DIOCESAN MEETING The regional meeting of the Catholic Women's Lea- gue Diocesan Council was held in Schreiber in the parish centre. Mrs. Rita McGrath, President, welcom ed Mrs. Betty Tackney, Thunder Bay president of the council, Rev. Alex Greengrass, of Terrace Bay, Dir- ector of the Council, and members of the C.W.L.. of St. Martin's Church, Terrace Bay. Mrs. Tackney gave interesting reports on the conven tion she had attended in Sudbury and of district meet- ings. She also presented a report prepared by Mrs. Josie Carniato of Thunder Bay, which gave a detailed explanation of the development and peace program. Father Greengrass paid tribute to the support the various C,W.L. associations give their churches by their loyality and energetic support. Mrs. Norah McGuire, convener of the Church Life committee, gave a short report of its' activities and aims. Father F. J. Meyer, of Holy Angels' Church, also expressed his pleasure in having the visitors present and offered the closing prayer. A social hour ended the evening. U. T. U. Correction It is regretted that the heading U.T.U. was inadvert- ently used instead of Brotherhood of Locomotive Engin- eers, in the report of their recent banquet. TOWN TOPICS Mr. and Mrs. Bill Lidkea, Miss Lois Davis, and Mrs. Henry Davis of Thunder Bay spent the weekend with relatives and friends here. Visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Whent are Mr. and Mrs. Neil Whent of Winnipeg, Mrs. Irene Robinson of Burlington, and Mr. and Mrs. Percy Page, of Thunder Bay. ; Mrs. Ernie (Eleanor) O'Connor, who will be a cheer ful, if not spry, 81 on Friday, Nov. 10, welcomed calls from her friends on her birthday.
