PAGE 12 CREDIT UNION 22nd ANNUAL MEETING F. V. Harness was chairman for the annual meeting of the Schreiber CPR Employees Credit Union Meeting with the following guests present: Clifford O'Brien, Ontario Credit Union League Representative; Calvin Claypole, Cuna Mutual Insurance Society, and Peter Dube, Lawyer, of Marathon. The resignation of Albert Pearson, long-time treas- urer, due to his transfer to Sudbury by CP Rail, was regretted, but, the Union has been very fortunate in securing W. T. Wallace as a replacement. A successful year has been enjoyed with an increase in membership. The Credit Committee reported an outstandi ng year, possibly the best in the Union's history, approving loans for a total of $167,176.00 and commended mem- bers for their prompt payment. Elected to office were Wayne Wilson, President; Chester Baillie, Vice-President; Gerry Nicol, Secre- tary; W. T. Wallace, Treasurer-Manager. Directors C. M. Baillie, R. B. Simon, A. Krystia, W. Gerow, F. V. Harness, W. Wilson, G. Gordon, G. Nicol, W. Stefurak. Committees - H. Spikula, W. G. Furlonger, E. A. Nimei. Credit - C. Sparkes, A. W. Slater, L. Tremblay. Supervisory - C. Sparkes, H. Spikula, and W. Wilson - Delinquency. Mr. O'Brien spoke admiringly of the local Union, its efficiency in handling its finances, the evident service it is giving to its members and the obvious comradeship it enjoys - liking its slogan - Mind YOUR own business.'. Mr. Dube spoke on the Making of Wills, how they should be drafted and how they are administered. In laymen's language, Mr. Dube covered many other apects of making a will and at the conclusion of his talk answered a barrage of questions, so great was the interest engendered. Draws during the evening were won by Gerry Godin, Mrs. Ida Krause and Bob Krause. Lunch was served and music for dancing was supplied by the Terrace Bay orchestra. 139 JOBS TO BE CREATED IN LONGLAC The Honourable Jean Marchand, Minister of Region- al Economic Expansion, announced that Weldwood of Canada Ltd. of Vancouver, British Columbia, has accepted a regional development incentive offer from his Department for a new plant at Longlac, Ontario, to manufacture flake board. Photo by Inez McCuaig REBEKAHS HOLD ELECTION The C.P.T. committee of Ruby Rebekah Lodge have elected the following new officers: Mrs. Glorie Miller, Chairman, Mrs. Elizabeth Harris, Vice-Chair- man; Mrs. Gladys Hamilton, Secretary; William Jones, Treasurer; Mrs. Chris Morris, Property Chairman. The committee's next meeting will be open to the public following their business meeting when a Public Health nurse will be the guest speaker. Mrs. Miller, N. G. and Mrs. Harris, V. G. pre- sided for the Rebekah meeting. Plans were completed for the Officers' tea for Mid November. Follwing the meeting a penny auction was run by Mrs. Mary Husband, Mrs. Jean Fisher and Mrs. M. Walsh. Mrs. Gladys Hamilton convened the lunch served. C.W.L. BAZAAR Mrs. Penny Caccamo convened the most successful Christmas Bazaar of the Catholic Women's League, with Mrs. Helen Stokes as cashier.
