Registration will be held within the next two weeks. Miss N. Spillane has volunteered her servic- es to help with the younger skaters. Ladies Broomball will be offered providing that sufficient ladies show an interest. Tenative plans call for several teams, one from the high school level one from the house wives, perhaps others from organ- izations such as the Legion, Kinsmen, etc. Get all your old brooms ready! The Local Art Club has requested a work shop for this coming fall.. Mrs. D. Brown, President, can be contacted for further information. Other possible activities that may be available al- though not directly under the auspices of the Schreiber Parks and Recreation Committee are House League Hockey, contact Tom Quinton or Jim Duggan; Junior Curling is being looked into by the Recreation Committee. To date no reply from the Curling Club has been received. Interested groups desiring further organized activ- ities should express their wishes to the Co-ordinator or any member of the Schreiber Parks and Recreation Committee. Schreiber Minor Hockey Executive Elected: Minor Hockey in Schreiber is well underway again with the election of officers at a meeting held Friday, October 13th. The following is the elected 1972-73 Minor League Hockey Executive: President-Mr. T. Wilson; Vice-president-Mr. W. Stefurak; Secretary-treasurer Mrs. P. Mulligan and Mrs. E. Glad. Additional volunteers are still required to act as referees, linesmen, coaches, etc. Please volunteer as soon as possible. Contact any member of the executive immediately. SCHREIBER TOWN TOPICS Mr. and Mrs. Dick Warder of Hayward, Wisc. spent last week with Mr. and Mrs. Norman Bottomley doing some hunting. Mrs. Yola Cebrario has returned home after visit- ing her daughter, Marie - Mrs. Edgar Stanzel and family in Ottawa. Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Clemens are visiting rela- tions in and around Wiarton, Ont. Keith Penner, M.P. addressed a public meeting: in the town hall on October 10th. Harold McParland, president of the local Liberai Association chaired the meeting and Mr. Penner was introduced by W.T. Wallace. Some of the points made in Mr. Penner's speech, and others discussed at length later included Unemployment Insurance, the value of the many colleges for technical and other traning courses, the welfare of those on pension and care of the aged, and the advantages and disadvantages of a price and wage control board. Mr. McParland announced the advance polls in Schreiber will be held in the Public School auditorium October 21st and 23rd from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., standard time. Coffee and cakes were served. Mr. and Mrs. Art Fletcher of St. Jerome, Que., and Miss Phyllis Wilson of Montreal are visiting Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Simon. Mrs. Eddy Glad and Mr. and Mrs. Edward Gunn with their son Robbie of Thunder Bay, visited the several Glad families in Schreiber over the holiday weekend. The regular meeting of the Anglican Church Women was opened with prayer on Tuesday, October 10th. The secretary read a letter from Mrs. Brashaw, social action secretary, asking for help in supplying mitts, tooks and small Christmas gifts for boys and girls to be sent to three different missions, Garden River, Little Current and Massey. These items could be handed in to Mrs. Bryson or Mrs. Bailey. The Christmas bazaar has been schedule for November 18th in the Town Hall. All ladies are asked to donate articles for the tables. James Brandenburg of Worthington, Minn. spent several days on Slate Islands photographing caribou for the National Wild Life magazine. R.T.
