PAGE 10 TERRACE BAY NEWS OCTOBER 18, 1972. SCHREIBER PARKS & RECREATION NEWS Swimming Awards will be presented on Sunday, October 22nd, at the Schreiber Town Hall Basement beginning at two o'clock. An invitation is extended to the parents and gener- al public to attend and wish these deserving swimmers well. Coffee, cakes, and sandwiches will be served following the presentations to allow the citizens the opportunity to mix and discuss with the committee aspects of recreation. Those successfully completed their courses will be notified of necessary particulars in advance of Sunday Plan to attend the Awards Day so that we may show our children that we fully support their efforts. Winter Programming: At the meeting of October 3rd, Co-ordinator G. Speck presented a brief proposal outlining his ideas concerning a winter programme for the citizens of Schreiber. The Committee endorsed the proposal and plans are now underway to implement the programme. The Co- ordinator will be contacting various groups and indi- viduals to aid in the numerous activities that will be offered in the winter to come. Every age group has been considered and the Committee is anticipating - a full winter of varied activity. Registration slips will be available soon from the schools, town office and the Co-ordinator for the various courses. Watch for notices stating such. The following activities will be offered if there is sufficient interest shown: cont'd Drama Club under the supervision of Mr. Cos Filane. In the past this has proven to be a very re- warding club. A live performance has always brou- ght much enjoyment to the citizens. With the back- ing of the Recreation Committee it can only prove fo be a greater success. Ringettes under the supervision of Mr. John Small. This is an activity for young girls from the age of 11 up. lt is played from Red Rock to Manitouwadge in supervised leagues. Contact with Grant Goodwin in Manitouwadge will be made as he is the area consultant. Mens Fitness Course under the supervision of Mr. Doug Moore. To date some twenty-seven men have indicated that they require such a course. Weight lifting, basketball, exercises and other constructive activities will be offered. $.,0.L.E. under the supervision of Mr. Paddy Mulligan. This will be an extension of the summer outdoor learning course offered during the summer. Winter activities will include snowshoe trips, winter camping, efc. Boxing under the supervision of Mr. J. Figliomeni. It is hoped that the Kinsmen will aid in the sponsor- ship of the club.
