TERRACE BAY news i Vol. 15 No. 39 September 27, 1972 15¢ Per Copy SAVINGS BONDS AVAILABLE OCTOBER 2nd The 1972-73 series of Canada Savings Bonds will carry an average annual yield of 7.30% when held to maturity in 12 years, announced Finance Minister John N. Turner. The new bonds go on sale, October 2 and are dated November 1. They may be purchased until November 15 at face value without paying accrued interest. : The eligibility provisions are being changed this year to tailor the new series to individual investors while the maximum amount per purchaser will re- main at $50,000. The 1792-73 bonds may be pur- chased only by individuals who are bona-fide Canadian residents, and by estates of deceased persons. Interest rates for the annual coupon will be 51/2% for the first year, 7% for the second year, 71/2% for the next four years and 73/4% for the last six years. Features of Canada Savings Bonds which have made them a unique investment for individual Can- adians are retained in the 1972-73 series. They will be: - cashable anytime, at full face value plus earn- ed interest, = sold by all Canadian chartered banks and authorized sales agents, including investment dealers, stock brokers and trust and loan companies, - available for cash or by installments including convenient payroll deductions which are available to most employees through Company payroll plans. A compound interest feature is again incorporated providing for three extra interest certificates during continued page 2 ....... UNIVERSITY DAY A successful University Day was held on the after- noon of September 21, 1972, at the Schreiber Campus of Lake Superior High School. Many students met with the representatives from all the Ontario Universities, Ryerson and the Minis- try of Colleges and Universities, to become familiar with the various programmes offered and the require- ments for admission into specific courses. This ex- perience has enabled these students to realize that careful consideration is necessary before a well in- formed decision about a university education can be reached. The representatives expressed their satisfaction with the University Day. They were impressed by the questions raised and by the number of students who attended. THE AUXILIARY TO THE McCAUSLAND HOSPITAL New members are still welcome to join the Auxil- iary to the McCausland Hospital. The membership committee consists of the following: Gurbachan Sidhu 825-3814; Alice Farrow 825-3617; Majorie Stephen 825-3689, all of Terrace Bay; Penny Caccamo 824- 2815; the Schreiber representative and Anne Wilde 824-2741 our Rossport representative. Contact any of the above to join or come to the next meeting in Schreiber on Monday, October 16 where memberships will be sold at the door.
