Il TERRACE BAY news i Vol. 15 No. 38 September 20, 1972 15¢ Per Copy COUNCIL QUOTES Reeve Cavanaugh welcomed a delegation of Cross- ing Guards to the first regular meeting of Town Coun- cil for the fall season. Mesdames Lynn Walsh, Ricki Johnson and Marilyn Moher had requested permission to attend the meeting, in order to ask for an increase in salary, giving as their reasons the responsibility they felt, long hours and a need for different clothing for inclement weather. Reeve Cavanaugh and Council assured them that they were doing a good job, and were an asset to the safety of all children crossing the highway. The Reeve promised to discuss the situation later in the evening, and would advise them of Council's decision. After a discussion period, an in- crease was approved. John Mikus, Road Superintendant, gave a verbal report on the condition of Township roads, drainage and storm sewers, and commented on the recommen- dations to correct the drainage problem on Lakeview Drive in particular. Police Chief, D. Barnett gave his report for the month. Going into regular business of Council, the members who attended the Industrial Development Seminar, Clerk-Treasurer, W. Hanley, Councillors, R. Sinotte and R. Bray, with Bank Manager R. Buckley, stated they felt the seminar was well worth attending. Rep- resentation from all the municipalities in the district was considered strong. The main topic for discussion was industrial development in small communities. A copy of a letter from Pinewood Court, Home for the Aged, to the Honourable Rene Brunelle, Minister of Social Services, submitted the name of continued page 2 ...... FOR RESIDENTS OF TERRACE BAY AND SCHREIBER Recently there has been a great deal of discussion concerning the location of additional accommodation for senior citizens in our district home for the aged. A telephone survey is being conducted in the district to determine the opinion of the residents of this area themselves. When called on you will be asked a few simple questions concerning your opinion as to the proper location of the home. Your co-operation will be greatly appreciated in this attempt to provide better care for the aged. CANADA SAVINGS BONDS The 1972/73 Canada Savings Bonds campaign, Payroll Savings Division, in Ontario, will be direct- ed by two men who are prominent in the securities field, A.F. Francis of Toronto and David R. Dattels of Kitchener. They will be responsible for directing the two month campaign in the Province commencing mid- September and ending November 15th. In this period 40 C.S.B. organizers will visit some 2,500 business and industrial establishments to help set up payroll savings plans for the purchase of the new Series by employees. Mr. Francis will supervise organizers in the Gen- eral East region which embraces Toronto, Northern and Eastern Ontario, while Mr. Dattles will direct the activities of organizers in the Central West region which takes in the Hamilton-Niagara area as well as Southwestern Ontario. tied Pog Fass
