SEPTEMBER 13, 1972 TERRACE BAY NEWS PAGE 7 Schreiber Recreation News - cont'd Winter Programme: The proposed Winter Programme sponsored by the Schreiber Parks and Recreation Committee was dis- cussed at the regular meeting of the Committee. Co- ordinator, Mr. G. Speck outlined briefly plans for the Winter Programme. In expanding its programmes the Committee is att attempting to encompass all age groups. Various activities such as the continuation of the Environ- mental Awareness Programme during the winter month months, a Men's Physical Fitness Class, Table Tennis Ringettes for Girls, Broomball for both Men and Women, the revival of a Drama group under the sup- ervision of Mr. Cos Filane are all items under serious consideration. Committee members are presently carrying on a survey to determine the interest groups in the comm- unity in the proposed activity. Interested parties may learn more of the above mentioned events by contacting Committee members or the Co-ordinator G. Speck. Groups desiring additional programmes should con- tact the Recreation Co-ordinator and express their desires for such activities. (Thunder Bay District) and Ralph Stewart, M.P., (Cochrane) mets this week with Finance Minister Turner to discuss the state of the economy, especially in the areas of Northern Ontario represented by these two M.P.s. In a statement following the meeting, Turner praised the efforts which have been made in the past four years to expand the economy of Northern Ontario. "Resource development in this part of Ontario", said Turner, "Has improved, to a considerable extent, the balance of economic power between that region and the more affluent southern part of Ontario". Included on the agenda was a full discussion of the forest pro- ducts industry in Northern Ontario. A review of curr- ent trends showed that all the indicators point up, in- cluding a rapid recovery of the pulp market, much sooner than expected. f
