Wilkinson of Port Hope visiting with Mrs. Lester McCuaig and Mrs. Bill Furlonger this week - the first time they'd met in fifty years. TRACK AND FIELD CLUB John Brooks, Canadian | champion in 1500 meters, | spent this summer in | Schreiber to promote Trac | and Field events, and in- erest in these activities | by forming a club. He was sponsored by the Youth and Recreation Branch, National Health = _ | and Welfare Branch. John, wh ing Idaho State University, on a Track Scholarship, and naturally on the university track team, is ; surprisingly, majoring in mathematics. Some of the track and field club who trained with John this summer - Bruce Hiller, Jill Boyar, Werner, Rainer and Claudia James, Tom Ray, Barbara Glad, Melvin Madge, Don Courtenay and Allan Zborsky, attending the four day Track and Field Clinic in Thunder Bay, sponsored by the Northwestern Ontario Track and Field Association. The instructors were top Track and Field coaches in Ontario, with some top Canadian athletes to | demonstrate various events.
