Mr. and Mrs. J.C, Todesco of Sarnia visited the Chas. Todescos enroute to Thunder Bay. Laura Ray entertained her school friends Friday evening to celebrate her nineth birthday. Games and contests were enjoyed. Mrs. Ray served hot dogs, decorated cake and ice cream to Anita Bouch- ard, Terry Anne Bouchard, Vera Goodchild, Jacque- line Goodchild, Della Mushqush, Anna and Vienna Bain. Laura received many lovely gifts. A successful Penny Auction was held Sunday even- ing in the community hall with Mrs. Eugene Gerow as convener. Mrs. Todesco took admission and work- ing at the tables were Agnes and Camilla Legault, Mrs. Kenney, Mrs. Schelling and Mrs. Gerow. Mrs. Mary Mushqush is visiting relatives in Geraldton this week. Joseph Goodchild has returned from Heron Bay. Thunder Bay visitors during the week were Mr. and Mrs. CW. Todesco, Mr. and Mrs. V. King, Heather King and Mrs. Prina Gerow. Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Bouchard and baby took in the Beardmore Derby and visited friends. Miss Maxine Hubelit is home from St. Joseph's General Hospital, Thunder Bay. Mr. and Mrs. Cyril Brassard and family of Terrace Bay are holidaying at their cottage here. Mrs. R.T. Kenney hosted the members of St. Ber- chman's Altar Society Thursday evening when they met for the last meeting before the summer holiday break. The president, Mrs. E. Gerow presided and led in the opening and closing prayers. The president welcomed three visitors, Mrs. Doris Legault, Mrs. Margaret King and Miss Heather King. The minutes were read by the secretary, Mrs. Camilla Legault and adopted on motions of Mrs. Kenney and Mrs. E. Gerow. Mrs. Todesco presented the financial state- ment which was passed for adoption. Correspondence was read and filed. Several accounts were passed for payment. It was decided to purchase grass shears and another length of garden hose. The treasurer was advised to order some more get well and sympathy cards. A detailed report was heard on the recent penny auction which was a great success. Mrs. Schelling invited the ladies to her home for the September meeting. In closing the meeting Mrs. Gerow extended good wishes to the members for a healthy and happy summer vacation. Mrs. Kenney served luncheon and a social hour enjoyed. A mature sugar maple can pro- duce more than 3,600 pounds of food (sugar) each summer.
