Constable Anderson visited all classes in the school reviewing and remind- ing the students of the safety precautions which should be taken particularly during the summer months. A new area was opened up to the senior students recently when Tom McGrath, Alan Turner and Ryan LeBlanc instructed them on a sport called Scuba Div- ing. They learned names and uses of the equipment used as well as the important rules that a scuba diver must follow. The visit was both imformative and en- joyable. ENGAGEMENT ANNOUNCEMENT Mr. and Mrs. John Rummery of Schreiber are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Diane Elizabeth to Mr. James Alvin Maxey son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Maxey of Halifax. The wedding will take place at 4 p.m., July 22nd in Knox United Church, Fort Frances. Pat Mulligan, Joe Commisso and Gary Speck talked to the pupils about the summer programme thatwill be offered to them starting July 3rd. David Douglas (1798-1834) was a Scottish botanist who as a collec- tor for the Royal Historical So- ciety, discovered many new plants, trees and birds in British Columbia. Douglas kept a diary of his travels through western Canada.
