PAGE 6 TERRACE BAY NEWS MAY 25, 1972 THE LAKE SUPERIOR BOARD OF EDUCATION SCHREIBER & TERRACE BAY PUBLIC SCHOOLS Notice to All Parents re: June Dismissal The following is extracted from Memorandum #52 from the Ontario Department of Education as a directive to School Boards in Ontario: "The Department is desirous of providing the maximum flexibility to all schools, ... It is recommended, therefore, that such matters be decided in the light of the School Board's Policy and the arrangements made by the principal and staff within {that policy. Suck arrangements should include, ... the use of the school and its facilities both during and after any final examination period. It is expected that such School Board will ensure that full use of its facilities and personnel is made to the end of the school year, in accordance with the provisions of Section 34.1 of the Schools Administration Act." I n accordance with the above directive from the Ontario Department of Education, The Lake Superior Board of Education passed the following resolution: RESOLUTION NO. 70/72 RESOLVED THAT: permission be granted for the dismissal of elementary classes in June, 1972, and start-up of classes in September, 1972, as outlined in Item B6 of the Agenda. : CARRIED . Item Bé: Following earlier disucssion with Trustees and Principals, it is requested that permission be granted for elementary Principals to dismiss classes for the summer not earlier than the end of the regular school day of Friday, June 23, 1972. All staff will be required to remain on duty in the schools at productive work arranged by the Principals for the full school term which ends June 30, 1972. The first day of school in September, which is Tuesday, September 5th, will be a full school day for all students, elementary and secondary. Please Note: Schreiber and Terrace Bay Public Schools dismiss at the regular time on Friday, June 23rd for the summer recess so that the Teachers may complete end-of-the-year reports and have classrooms ready for a full program starting in September. The students may pick up their June report cards at 9:00 a.m. from their classroom Teachers on Friday, June 30th. Bus students will have reports mailed Thursday, June 29th.
