PAGE 12 TERRACE BAY NEWS MAY 25, 1972 CRITERIA FOR ADMISSION TO THE SCHOOL FOR TRAINABLE MENTALLY RETARDED " 1 A child so admitted must meet all of the following criteria: The child must have the ability to cope physically, mentally, emotionally and socially with the full day program, or part thereof, as provided by the Board. The child shall have attained the age of 5 years on or before December 31st of the year of admission, and not to have exceeded 21 years, as provided in the regulations. The child must possess the ability to profit from the program being offered as determined by the Director of Education, the teacher of the school, and the Admissions Board. The child must have submitted to a psychological assessment before admission. The child shall also have been medically examined by a legally qualified medical period of not more than one school term Applications for admission should be made through the Chairman of the Admissions Board (Principal of the School for Trainable Retarded), by March 31st of each year. The admission Board shall meet prior to the end of May in each year to consider new admissions, and to review the progress of the children currently attending the School for the Retarded. Other meetings may be called by the Chairman of the Admissions At the end of a trail period of at least four weeks, the Admissions Board may, following a hearing, dismiss from attendance at school, any child who is incorrigible or unable to profit by the instruction, and report such a dismissal to the Board of Education 2) 3) The child must be toilet trained. 4) 5) 6) practitioner, approved by the Board. Lita Marie and Claudette Boudreau, with house guest Wendy Evans-Smith, spent the weekend with the Hugh Boudreaus. Barb and Bruce Young, with Colleen, spent the weekend with Barb's family, Mr. and Mrs. C. Daley. Kristine Olsen, of Winnipeg, spent the long week- end with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. T. Olsen. Diane and Don Briscoe and family from Marathon, spent the weekend with the Jim Beddards. A shower was recently held in the home of Mrs. Rose Dakin in honour. of Mrs. Joseph Tiboni { nee Albertine Landry). Many beautiful gifts were opened by the new bride and Mrs. Cece Gorman and Mrs. Josephine Comeau helped Mrs. Dakin service a lovely lunch.
