As one of the aspects of the agricultural activities is a study of the library, the members made a tour of Schreiber's library where the librarian, Mrs. Bill Kirkpatrick answered their many questions regarding the types of books, reference section, paintings on display, films, and art objects also on display. Lunch was served by Mrs. Morris and Mrs. E. O'Connor. Mrs. Wesley Clemens convened the dessert tea given by the Schreiber Women's Institute on Saturday afternoon in the town hall. Tea was poured by Mrs. Ernest O'Connor, Mrs. Nelson Smith and Mrs. T. Spanton. Serving and replenishing were Mrs. Fred Harness, Mrs. Alvin Slater, Mrs. Russell Macadam and Mrs. Ken Williamson. Draw tickets on a special cake were sold by Mrs. Tommy Bolan, with Mrs. Eva Bailey of Thunder Bay winning it. The door prize was won by Mrs. Charlie Pearson, Mrs. Bill Thrower was the cashier. REBEKAH'S HONOUR MAVIS SLATER Plans were completed, at the Ruby Rebekah meet: ing, on May 10, for the reception honouring Mrs. Mavis Slater, who will be installed as president of the Rebekah Assembly of Ontario at their sessions in Toronto in June. There will be a dinner, servec in the Schreiber campus high school at 6:30 on Saturday, June 24th. Tickets may be obtained fron : Mrs. Alice Sparkes. It was agreed to cater for a buffet lunch for the Schreiber Oddfellows' party on May 19 to honour their veteran members. All Rebekahs and their hushands are invited to attend the event, which begins at 8 p.m. A letter of appreciation from Mrs. Iris Miller D.D.P. was read as well as a note from Mrs. Matil McDonald, Past president of the Rebekah Assembly of Ontario, and now residing in Victoria B.C . who sent her congratulctions and best wishes to Mrs. Slater and the Lodge for the great honour in Mrs. Slater's election. The property committee author- ized to purchase a quantity of cups and saucers for the cupboards. Several members ordered calenders At the next meeting, on May 24, there will be a penny auction and social hour. Mrs. Gladys Hamilton, N.G. and Mrs. Glorie Miller, V.G. presided for the meeting. Mrs. Miller, for the sick and visiting committee reported a wheelchair has been donated to the C.P committee. Mrs. Dora Weaver was nominated alternate repre sentative to the Assembly sessions in Toronto in pla of Mrs. Helen Wallace who is.unable to attend. FASTBALL LEAGUE ELECTS OFFICERS Barry Harper was elected president of the Schreik Fastball league at their meeting on May 7th with 1 present. Other officers elected were Leon Verdoni first vice-president; D. Mannisto, 2nd vice-preside Yvan Beauparlant, secrefary-treasurer. There will be one director from each team cont'd page 18 ....... .
