In this area it may be fairly common for a person to buy a car in Manitoba. However their licensing laws are somewhat diff- erent in that the plates stay with the owner. In Ontario the plates remain with the vehicle when sold. Before registering a motor vehicle in Ontario the following forms etc., are required. 1. Form JL1 Ontario application to register a passenger vehicle. 2. The last Manitoba registration permit for the vehicle. This can be in the form of: (a) a telegram from the Manitoba Motor Vehicles Branch, giving the required information (b) a certified copy of the permit.
