PAGE 14 TERRACE BAY NEWS MAY 10, 1972 AUDIO-VISUAL WORKSHOP Bill Heider and Phil Mostow, from the Department of Education, held an audio-visual workshop for grade school and high school teachers of Schreiber and Terrace Bay. After morning and afternoon sess- ions aimed at familiarizing teachers with the equip- ment and operating techniques, the teachers were divided into groups, with each given the assignment of reproducing and taping a television show. One group produced a modified version of Password and the other the You Are There program. Under the guidance of Mrs. Margaret Averill, special education consultant, for The Lake Superior Board of Education, four teachers of the Lake Super- ior High School were instructed in techniques of test- ing and instruction in the areas of remedial and developmental reading. This workshop, the last of a course which began in February last, is aimed at preparing teachers for handling remedial English courses next year. AUXILIARY INCREASES MEMBERSHIP Four new members were initiated into membership of the ladies' auxiliary to the Royal Canadian Legion, Br. 109 by Mrs. Georgina Davis, at the regular meeting on May 3rd = Mrs. Patsy (Robert) Kinney, Mrs. Billie Ann (Russel) Saarinen, Mrs. Jo-Anne (Wayne) Pearen, Mrs. Connie (Rodney) Bryson. ; Plans were completed for the 25th Anniversary celebration of the auxiliary on May 20th. Mrs. Iris Lidkea agreed to convene the fund collec tion for the Salvation Army, an annual project of the auxiliary for many years. Members were asked to bring their donations to the Legion for the Penny Auction on May 26th at 7:30 p.m. in the town hall. Tentative plans were made for the Legion zone meeting, being held in Schreiber on June 10th and a bowling party suggested for women. Mrs. Bobbie Winters reported on the district meet- ing held in Geraldton which she and Mrs. Davis had attended. Although the Sunday night bingos and the Saturday kitchen projects are successful, more workers are urgently needed. George Bruley of Thunder Bay is in the village working on his summer home. The Curling Club sponsored a Social evening in the Rossport Community Hall Sunday evening. Chas Todesco had charge of admission and Romeo Bouchard of the games with Brian Ray, Mac Hubelit, Edith Hubelit and Mrs. Todesco assisting .
