APRIL 6, 1972 TERRACE BAY NEWS PAGE 9 SCHREIBER BANTAMS NEWS The Schreiber Bantams have justified the faith of their fans, who followed them by chartered bus and cars, in winning the North Shore trophy, in Marathon and by defeating Nipigon earning a berth in the Rou- nd-Robin being held in Dryden on April 8 - 9. Neil Foote is the coach and John Soulierse, the as- sistant coach. The team line-up is : Goalie - Danny Glad, Lenny Winters; Defence = Doug Glad, Gord Ross, Kenny Cocks, Dean Fischer, Forwards - Steven Ross, Michael Anderson, Greg Caccamo, Bob Smilski, Shane Riley, Terry Jartus, Leon St. Jean, Don Speziale, Paddy Stokes, Danny Power, and they are allowed 3 pickrups for the next games. GRADE 8 WORK-A-THON The new trend in the younger generation's thinking is clearly shown in the latest project of grade 8, Sch- reiber public school. Presently raising funds for a trip to southern Ontario they have planned, with the municipality's blessings, a Work=A=Thon, when they will conduct a clean-up cn town streets and lanes, and ravines. As is done for walk-a-thons they will solicit sponsors and it is hoped the public will support their promise of a maximum of nine hours work. On their excursion, May 25 - June 4, they hope to visit Sault Ste . Marie, Niagara Falls, Hamilton, and Toronto, and also spend a few days on a farm in Grey County where billets have been arranged. Mr. and Mrs. Brian Duffy, Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Duffy, and Mr. and Mrs. Paul Cebrario were in Win- nipeg to attend the wedding of Lorraine Papson and Ronald Duffy on March 17. Fire Chief Peter Doig has gone to take an 8 weeks' course at the Fire College in Gravenhurst. REBEKAHS Mrs. Mary Martinsen was the winner of the home bingo sponsored by Ruby Rebekah Lodge, with lucky number prizes won by Mrs. Dora Weaver and Mrs. Helen D'Arcy. Cards are now on sale for the second - bingo, beginning on April 4, available from Lodge members. Information on numbers by calling Mrs. Cyril Sparkes, Mrs. Nettie Thrower, and Mrs. Wesley Clemens. At the penny auction of the Rebekahs on March 10 the hand-knitted socks were won by Mrs. Gladys Hamilton and the door prize by Mrs. Winnie Clemens. Miss Dorothy Slater of Thunder Bay won the elec- tric broom in a draw on March 24th. Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Clemens and Miss Edith Clemens visited Mr. and Mrs. Robert Bourre in Dryden last week. Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Cocks, of Thunder Bay, visited 1 last week with their parents = Mr. and Mrs. Bill Cocks and Mr. and Mrs. John St. Jean. STORK CLUB Born to Mr. and Mrs. Harold Shack, Schreiber, on March 28th; a boy. 'THE ANGEL'S HARP IN THE GOOD OLD WINTER TIME! What's nicer than a comfortable spot by a fireplace or an enticing drink in a dimmed room? The teachers from the Separate and Public Schools in this area couldn't have answered those questions a short time ago but now thy can! Why? Because of a wonderful experience had outdoors in our invigorating North- western weather. The occasion! An outdoor workshop sponsored by the Schreiber-Terrace Bay (O.E.C.T.A.) Ontario Elementary Catholic Teachers Association. The purposes: survival in the wilderness; an exper- ience to be absorbed and used with our students; enjoyment.
