She welcomed all the ladies and gave the wors hip service and prayer. Minutes were read by Secretary Lil Harris. Cor- respondence included a | etter from the Canadian Cancer Society, reminding the ladies that April is Cancer month, when the society campaigns for funds to carry on their important work. A donation was made to the Cancer Society. A | etter from the Board of Stewards thanked the ladies for the recent cheque to the general fund. A thank you note was read from Mrs . H. Duriez for a sympathy card sent to her. A discussion took place as to when to send articles to the Crippled Civil ians in Toronto. |t was decided that October would be a good month. Used or broken appliances, odd pieces of jewelry, and used clothing is always acceptable for the collection to be sent to Crippled Civilians. Maple syrup will not be sold this year, due to the fact that freight charges are too high. The Afternoon group will cater to the Eastern Star dinner on April 17th. Mrs. Storey, who celebrated her 80th birthday on | March 15th, was presented with a small gift, by Mrs. Schritt, on behalf of the auxiliary, of which Mrs. Storey is a member. Mrs. J. Fisher will take worship for the April meet- ing, and will bring the lunch, along with Mrs. Hus- band. The meeting closed with prayer, and the Ladies counted Canada Packer labels and made scrap books. Lunch was served by Mrs. Lil Harris. ST. PATRICK'S DAY TEA AND BAKE SALE A beautifully decorated hall, with an Irish motif, was the scene for the St. Patrick's Day Tea held in the Community Church on March 18th. ¢Mrs. Har- old Marsh was the general convenor, for the tea and Mrs. Bruce Mc Bride was in charge of the bake sale. vrs. Fred Soughton, president of the Evening Group, received at the door with mrs. Lundberg. A lace covered table was suitably decorated for the occasion, with spring flowers, and green sham- rocks. Pouring for the first hour were Mrs. Charles Wise and Mrs. John Schritt, chairman of the after- noon group. Mrs. Soughton and Mrs. Lundberg pou- red for the second hour. Individual tables featured centerpieces with green candles set in Irish potatoes, for an unusual touch. Pourers and servitors wore little white lace caps with green ribbons. 3 Servitors were Mrs. Mina Mahoney, Mrs. Kay Weppler and ivirs. Ena Buckley. In charge of kitchen arrangements were Mesdames John Ferrier, Jean Roberts, Wally Fisher, Rob Harris, Maurice Dozois. The cashier was Mrs. Doug Thompson. Tickets were made by Mrs. Stan Hodg- kiss. Irish music played all afternoon under the direction of Mrs. R. Harris. Assisting at the bake sale table were Mesdames McBride, P. Jones, R . Gander, and S.
