ONTARIO ARTS COUNCIL The Ontario Arts Council is sponsoring a touring Art Exhibitions, accompanied by artists, visiting com- munities east of Thunder Bay as far as Marathon. Don- ald Halstead and Reinhard Reitzenstein, both from Thunder Bay, will be presenting their work to the pub- lic and will be available to meet and talk with inter- ested persons at the showings. Digby received the award for his school broadcast Your Voice Has Come A Long Way. Written by Betty Kovacs the program was entered in the 1972 competition in the performing arts and humanities category. SCHREIBER CL.W. bt. Mrs. Karl Kazmiercjak convened the very success ful tea, bake sale and pwnny auction held by the Catholic Women's League on March 17 in the town hall. ; Mrs. Borden Ross was cashier, the bake table and candy booth were attended by Mesdames Ray Sisson, M.J. McGrath, and Margaret Godin. The penny auction was run by Mesdames Bill Cocks, Edmond Borutski and Mrs. Kazmiercjak. : Mrs. R. Sgortini convened the Money Tree draw, with tickets sold by Mrs. Charlie Person, and the winning one drawn by Mrs. Fred Harness for Mrs. Lawrence Tremblay. The door prize, donated by Mrs. Jack Stokes, was won by Mrs. Jimmy Kostecki. Mrs. Con Duggan, the table hastess, had as servifors, Mesdames Frank Speziale, Elton Fummerton, Art Huard, Jimmy Kostecki, George A. Scott, John Power, Cosimo Diano, Walter Zaporzan and the Mis- ses Rosemary Speziale and Angelina Veneziano. Mrs. Bill Mullins, kitchen convener was assistad by Mesdames Bill Cook Pat Guina, Harry Prescotte, and D'Arcy McGuire. Out-going plates were served by Mrs. Frank Venezizno and Joe Speziale, and cake plates replenished by Mrs. Sev. Maronese. fd KINSMEN The Kinsmen, zone 4 held a most successful spring meeting in Schreiber over the weekend, 18-19, attend by 45 from the district. Geraldton won the first event in the bonspiel, with Bill Kitching's rink = Gerry Lundberg, Claude Latour, and Mel Strong. The Second Event was won by a Fort City , Thunder Bay rink - Garry Glenn, Jim Quail, Denis, and Don Davies. Other prizes went to Berk Newman's rink, from Kenora.Tom Quinton's rink, Schreiber, first knocked out and Stan Hick's rink, Fort City for best - dres- sed rink. The banquet, Saturday evening, and luncheon Sunday were both prepared and served by the Kinettes. A social evening was enjoyed on Saturday. Following theluncheon the business meeting was held, with Mike Reid, Schreiber, president as M.C.. until he handed the meeting over to the newly-elec- (continued on page 6)
