'REBEKAHS Ruby Rebekah Lodge has finalized plans for their penny auction on March 10, in the town hall, to start at 7:30 p.m. Members were asked to contribute two prizes. The date for initiation ceremonies was set for Marc 22nd with degree practice being held on March 8. A length sick and visiting report was made by Mrs. Glorie Miller, and Mrs. Helen Wallace read many notes enclosing donations for the Make-Believe tea fund. : : A | etter was received from the Wildey Night com- mittee in Thunder Bay regarding their plans for the annual Wildey Night celebrations being held this year on April 7. A beautiful afghan, knitted by Mrs. Norma Fum=- merton was displayed and will be used for a draw prize - the draw to be made in June. Mrs. Mavis Slater, vice president of the Rebekah Assembly of Ontario gave a short account of her trip to North Bay and that area. Mrs. Gladys Hamilton, N.G. and Mrs. Glorie Gordon, V.G. presided for this meeting held on Feb. 23rd. SCHREIBER PEEWEES The Schreiber North = Shore Peewees, playing in the Soo Peewee hockey tournament, in Sault Ste. Marie, defeated the Soo, Mich 3 - 1; Fraser, Mich 5 = 1; and Kitchener 5 - 0; and losing to Wawa with a score of 4 - 3 were awarded the consolation trophy The top trophy taken by Sudbury who defeated Wawa. Top scorers for Schreiber were Mike Mulligar and Danny Blanche. The teams, both major and minor, in the tournam= ent, came from Schreiber, Wawa, Sudbury, Sault Ste. Marie, Sault Ste. Marie, Mich., Fraser, Mich Fort Wayne, Ind., Elliot Lake, Kitchener and Copper Cliff . ; This was ine biggest tournament held yet and all games were played in a rink devoted solely to pee- wee hockey, built by voluntary labor, and the fac- ilities excellent. Hockey enthusiasm runs high in the Sault, obviou- sly, since this rink and two others, the bantams and midgets have to drive 50 miles to Thessalon to prac- tise! Ted Wilson and Mike Smilsky, who accompanie the Schreiber North = Short team are loud in their praises of the attendance and support of fans at the games and the hospitality given them. When bad driving weather compelled them to stay another night billets again were freely offered and the welcome warm.
